Job done?

Right today has hopefully seen the end of this maintenance period.

Turbo arrived at 1600, and was fitted in about 3 hours. I was fannying about with a mates t16 engined mg, sticking calliper. Any way, everything is now done, except fitting the wheel arch liners and new front grill, but I am undecided what to do with the badge yet. It went pretty well to be honest, but I am an expert now haha! Still oil pushing past the seals, so if it doesn't sort itself out, I'll get 2 or 4 of the 6 banjo bolt holes tig welded to reduce the oil flow/pressure. I've got a horrible sort of grinding sound under load, and over bumps sounds like gearbox to me, the only simple thing I can think of is that rattle plate again. I'll take it to a VW garage tomorrow and take a technician out, see what he thinks. I'm hoping just a wheel bearing or something I haven't fitted properly. Clutch pedal is lovely though now, but the CRB is still making the same noise, even though it's new...? If it turns out to be a simple job, I think I'll treat myself to UD maybe, as I am back in love <3 Oh, the best bit, NO overboosting, consistantly boost at about 22-23psi in all gears :) So Bill will have a visitor sometime soon, depending on if the gearbox needs to come out/refurb. Had the biggest smile ever earlier, when a lad in a sierra tried to take on the derv on a hill! 4th gear, black smoke and embarassed lad knowing he just got skinned by a diesel lol! One good thing, is the horrible juddering is gone now, and it doesn't knock your teeth out whilst changing gear due to the dogbone mount. Happy man again!

I had a funny moment last night in mine, me and a 350z from 20mph to 100mph there was nothing in it at all 100 onwards he edged away. I bet he thought "ha beat you" but I would of loved to of been able to tell him "actually mate its a diesel" it was that close he would of shot himself I think

Really in love with mine at the moment as well, love my new recaros, better diving position and feel also I think it goes better after sorting my boost hoses.

The above was all on a private race track of course.

Haha there must be hundreds of "private tracks" around the UK these days

How do the recaros feel over the standard Cupra/Mk4 seats?

Joshy, hope this is the end of your turbo woes mate. What are you doing with regards to the brakes now?

I was on a 'private track' on Friday, police didn't like the wheel spin tyre squeel coming off the roundabout though haha! He tried frightening me saying I was getting a section 59, but didn't give it to the tube!

DJ, turbo seems to be fine at the minute, but car is going to VW tomorrow for the weird crunching noise. I have a feeling there wasn't actually need in changing the dmf, but may have been this mysterious noise :(

Well brakes are on hold, had to sell the adapters and discs and pads so I could afford to get her back on the road. So, I know it's a let down on my behalf but I'm going to bin the Fiat brembo's off I think, and just paint them and make something out of them to put in my room lol. Ger a disc or something.... maybe a clock? Got the 256 venteds on though, only difference is the handbrake actually works now, and I put the brakes on hard earlier coming to a stop and one of the back wheels skidded lol, need some better pads up front! But as we all know, this is the least of my worries.

Just spoke to a man about flocking, so watch this space. Hopefully done in time for UD if I decide the car will go, bought greenflag last night incase lol.

Yeah there are a few about, you just need to know where they are.

Recaro's are awesome compared to the standard shaped seats, better feel and driving position IMO and they look awesome,I'm very happy with them. I had mk4 golf heated leather from the gtti pd150, just need to sell them now.

I've ordered an erf code on recommendation from darkside, as apparently they're bulletproof! instead of a recon one for £800. Will get her in on Monday next week, its got a month guarantee, and ill find out if its fooked the first time i drive it! with new oil again, and new flywheel stretch bolts so I can change the sandwich plate! Starting to think the dmf didn't need changing, and the noise was just the diff!!

The mk4 leather was good but I have just always wanted the Recaro's its just really really hard to get some in good condition that don't need 300+ quid retriming the drivers seat

Few goodies to go on this weekend, found out I'm working until 1700 on monday, instead of 1130, so the box might take 2 days instead of one.... Good news though, sold the dodgy box to a VW tech. He wants the end case and 6th cog, to go on his 5 spd, he is doing the oil change for me on the new box and giving me £30 lol. He's sorted me out a couple of times in the past though so I don't mind. Got 5L PD oil, 2L gearbox oil, rattle plate, and sump sealent for £80. Not too bad, considering a service costs more.... The stapler is because I've bought some leather offcuts to do my cloth arm rest. The little things round things are the 42draft linkage bushes. Fun ahead!
