Yes, check it when the engine is cold. It should be on the min level. Under pressure it will rise to the max, so you can check it when hot but whatever you do .... Do not open the cap when hot, it will be like opening a boiling kettle.
Well they should have done a vehicle health check on it and its on part on there so they should have picked it up on there if weak!
And seat recommend up to -25 degree which I think is a mixture of 60/40 40 been antifreeze.
If the fluid looks pink it should be fine.
If you want to do a basic check you can dip your finger in it (when cold) and taste it. if it tastes really really sweet then it has antifreeze in it.

do you know what antifreeze can do to you? no way would i be licking anything thats contaminated with antifreeze, really nasty stuff. and i mean REALLY nasty.
Smoking a fag will do more harm and people do that 20 times a day or more.
A tiny taste won't kill you. A tin of Tuna with a good glug of it mixed in will sort out next doors cat though..........................................
