Yay.... another one with the infamous TSi timing belt issue...

My 1.8 Leon just came from the small maintenance last monday...no severe issues
so it seemed, at 48000 kilometers.

However, wednesday... orange exhaust light started burning. Took it to the garage...and it seems there's a big chance my engine's got the timing belt issue. They're going to open up
the engine block January 2nd, with an analysis and cost estimation.

Not happy about this :(

Looks a quality job there - any pictures of how you did it, where you cut & what tools you used?

I followed this link for a DIY and it worked perfect
http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?3573551
I only had to cut out the engine mount support out on the MAF sensor side to make it a little bit more accessable, so the engine cover is sitting on 3 rubbers instead of 4, but its very stable and nothing to worry about with that.

I used a manual hacksaw, then sanded down the edges with sand paper just to make the cuts look smooth. did take a bit of time and broke over 4 blades in the process. If you could get an electric saw, it would be a much easier job!

Cheers for that - saved to favourites, ready for when I need to do this myself.

Btw, the painbt job on the engine cover looks great and really makes the bay look neat and tidy - what did you use to paint it with?

Since yesterday the car has started knocking when we turn right

Guessing cv joint. Loving my warranty at the moment. It's been well used in the 3 months we've had the car :(

...and this is why I never like getting "newer" cars. They need at least 20k or so to really get all their teething probs out.

Any news of the Rear Diffuser?

I fitted my front FR seats in today and cleaning them up a bit. Wont be staying like this for long though as the logos will be getting removed at some point next year. Fitting the rears after I get a part from Dave :) Lot more comfortable than the standard seats

Yea i did ask he said its still in early development but what he did say is the one he is doing is gunna be very suttle, the rear panel where the number plate attaches to is going to be gloss black and where it curves in at the bottom theres going to be 3 or 4 fins along the bottom....its not going to be as in your face as the standard cupra r version...but again it is early days,by the looks of it hes very busy with everyones demands and everyones asking him wether this is done or is that done yet....i wouldnt mind a go in that westfield hes got there if it was put together!!
