The SEM's are a nice bit of kit. It's just a shame about the casting issues they have had. I hope they learn from their lessons and don't ship any out without pressure testing them.

Tim why don't you buy another run about so you can get the build underway?

Also, don't suppose you have got the diagrams for your battery box?

Unfortunately i havent ordered the bits for the head yet so until i get on that its held up abit
I can get the dimensions for the box if you want mate, however when i replaced my battery i found it was 15mm lower than meant to be as OE spec. So if you want the top like mine you may have to adjust for this

What have you got left to order for the head? Are you going solid lifters or hydraulic?

lol, don't think you'll get much mate!

I think if your staying below about 8.5k you don't need to move to solid. I think bill revs to 9k on hydraulic.

I presume your using a largeport head? 'Normall' size valves or +1mm?

I picked up a largeport AEB a while ago so will rebuild that
I was going to go +1mm on all valves maybe help it make that extra horse or 2
I can always go solid at a later date if i choose to make it rev happy
Also i think you're right on the pimping, i dont want pocket change

Make sure you check the costs on valve enlargement before you order I know a lot of engine builders charge a lot of money to enlarge the valves as it's a lot of work from what I understand.

Well had a chat to graham yesterday and i will be buying his SEM which should be from the batch after the porous issues and ok
On a side note Bill, do you carry the 330mm rotors in stock as my ones are very low now and will need to be replaced but need some tyres first, just incase i need to plan lead time

I buy them in to order. I have a pair of 335's here but not 330's
good news on SEM.. you will love it

re larger valves, I cant say I noticed anything beneficial on philc car when I mapped it..
I run stock size... and dont seem to have any issue flowing >600bhp from 26psi boost

Larger bore will help deshroud 2 of the inlet valves which nestle against the cyl wall, so larger valves without a bore to open into, wont, to me be benefit much. turbo choice etc will be more significant a choice in the quest for power.

Whats a rough lead time on the discs so i know how far in advance to order
Also are you still using female torx bolts to couple rotors and bells as i'll need a few sets of these too.
As far as the oversized valves go the engine will be stroked so will have a couple of millimetres removed so could flow more
With regards to Phill's not really achieving much, i think it could be due to the fact it is running a small turbo and even all the porting, bigger throttle body,etc this also yielded tiny gains over standard
Will delve into costs of head rework closer to the time before i fully decide on valve sizes

Today i thought i'd crack on and fit some of the things i've had lying around for too long
So the plan was steering rack poly bush, 034 solid subframe mounts and my VF engineering pendulum mount
Got up early (for a sunday) and ploughed an obscene amount of food into myself ready for grafting
Whilst getting the car high up in the air i placed an axle stand under the drivers side and while walking round doing bits and pieces i must have knocked it, when i dropped the car down i could see the car didnt look right. after a quick glance i could see it was on the floor pan and slightly bowed an area in. FFS great start
Removed the dogbone and dropped the subframe so i could get better access to the rack bush
After undoing the bracket to hold the pipework and bush retaining bracket i swapped the old for new, so first job done

With this done i thought i'd have a cup of tea. This was followed by virtually everyone i know/live by/ have ever seen stopping by for a 'chat'
By the time everyone had gone it was 3.30 so i gave the subframe bushes a belt with a hammer as everyone else who has fitted them got the old ones out easy, sods law mine wouldnt budge
So with the light dying i decided to just reassemble and use my current poly'd dogbone until i've done the subframe bushes
I'll take some pics next time showing the bolts, etc so i can do guide for steering rack rebushing and also how to fit the subframe bushes too for those interested
