I'm having the same issue 3 years on as the guy with this post I found in the mods section. Has anyone got any tips on installing an ipod into the glove box or alternatively into the box behind the handbrake? I have a 2006 Altea and there are no USB or Aux-in ports. My aim is to install the ipod into the glove box and put a second USB and aux-in socket into the panel next to the coin tray, or into the box behind the hand brake.

Ok Just added an Ipod connection to my Factory Fit 2005 Altea Stereo.
The box has been fitted and the Ipod Fuctionality works. However I spoent 2 Hours trying to route the cable through the push out hole in the Glove box and into the DASH HU cavity. I could not find a way of getting the cable to go where ,I want it to. After 2 Hours and many muttinging of Golly gosh. I have routed the cable underneath the Steering wheel so the ipod sits on the coin tray. Now this is not where I want it permanently. Has anyone got any tips on how to route the cable via the Glovebox.

for the glove box best way it to take it out 3 screws underneath & the trim twist screws plus 4 i think along the top & 2 behind the glove box all are torx 20 i seem to remember

i put my ipod in the center consul behind the hand brake the panel at the back in the rear pulls off brute force and a thin pallete Knife work well , watch the aux 12v plug and i used a spade drill to pop a hole into the back of the center consul box , the cable can then be " persuaded " down the drivers side of the center tunnel to under the dash , then up to the back of the Head unit

if you get stuck either post here or message me , as with most panels on seats a 2 inch paint scraper is good for getting under the edge of the trim , when i fed the cable down the center consul i just pushed it up the bottom edge beside the seat , by moving that backwards and forwards you can get to most of the trim , in the drivers foot well you will need to remove the panels under the steering wheel , start at the door side and work your way in , they either pull off or are held in with a t20 ( i think) headed screws
