I get the same whistle/fluttering sound on my Cupra R since having it remapped (revo stage 1) and I was told by the revo dealer its perfectly normal

Noises and clutches !!! Grrrrrr

Took the car into the garage a few weeks ago and they found nothing wrong

Now for the past week the car seems a bit jerky when its idling??

I was out today and as I put my foot down, it started making a rattling sound and I lost power. I tried to do the same after the next roundabout and I lost power and then engine management light flashed on and off

Managed to drive the car back home ok, but when I put my foot down it makes that horrible rattling sound

This happens even if I gradually put my foot down as well

Any ideas??? Going to get it looked at tomorrow if possible

Well i WAS booked for a diagnostics on friday.

i say was because my clutch started slipping on monday!!!!FFS

So they cant put it on a duno to diagnose the whistling noise till the clutch in done.
The dyno would probably kill what life the clutch has left!!!!

It's making me lose power now tho and makes a horrible rattling sound.

Did yours flutter before it was remapped? Mine never used to do it and I haven't done any mods to it

Hmm that sounds like a different problem then (at least I hope it is!). No mine definitely started doing it the day I got it remapped. If you hadn't done anything at all to it and it started doing that though then I'd say that was a problem anyway personally cos nothing should change if you've not done anything to it.

Right, put the car in the garage this morning....and they reckon the coil packs need replacing....would that cause a loss of power and rattle while under load??

Getting coilpacks changed tomorrow. Will have to see what happens!

Not sure about a rattle, but failing coilpacks make the car run like crap generally - not just under load - although high load will highlight weaknesses first. They do make the car sound clunky, so perhaps this is your rattle?

Is your car an 07? If so, did they have the coilpack recall? I know my didn't and that's an 08. From what I'm told 08 onward cars don't see too many coilpack issues.

It was running fine until last night mate. A bit juddery at idle, but performed fine. Now it runs like a heap of shite and it has the horrible rattle

I asked about the coil pack recall and they said my car wasn't one of them........

it's a 57 btw.

Do you know what the rattle sounds like, it's kinda like ball bearings rolling around in a tin. Sounds really metallic. I'll see how it goes after the coil packs are changed. I am gna tell them to get it changed, take it for a test drive and if the noise is there, then obviously there is something else wrong

Is the engine management light flashing on and off something to do with the exhaust??

If your EML is on and off I'd suggest it's 99% certain its coilpacks from the other symptoms you've described. Yes re: the sounds. I had coilpack failures on my mk1 and it sounded really unwell.

I always thought the EML was as a result of a misfire when coilpacks had failed. It should tell you which cylinder is having the problem.

Right, that's put my mind at rest a bit. Just gotta wait and see what the crack is!!

Mate I have no vagcom so I haven't been able to scan it :(

EDIT: cheers for the help tho

as for the flutter its just the turbo and the boost that backs up into turbine blades and causes it to make the noise

if you put it in 3rd or 4th and put your foot down at 1500rpm and then lift off just as you hit 3k it will make the noise

wen running high high boost this backing up of pressure can damage the turbo and this is the resson for the blow off valves to relese the pressure so it dosent back into the turbine

bollocks

Still not 100% right

The rattle was there when I picked the car up but it has now gone

Now when I drive I still get the engine management light sometimes. Also, most of the time when I boot it, it gets to a certain stage and the revs stop rising.

Ideas lads? Lol!

just a toss up

you may hav a faulty maf sensor

if the flow is detected difrent to wat the map sensor sees it can throw the boost leak fault

i would try cleaning the maf with brake cleaner i hav seen a car gain 50bhp just from cleaning the maf

Apologies if you've already mentioned, but when were your plugs changed last?

Service interval is 40k miles For plugs , which I think is way over the top tbh
10-20 k max for plugs IMHO

Right, they should have been changed then....but after all this **** I don't believe that they actually have

been on the phone to them this morning, they said bring it in this afternoon for a diagnostic check....so does that mean they didn't do one yesterday?

The engine management light is permanently on now. Car is still loosing power as well. Well f**ked off now.

funny you say that
my car went in for its 40k service with a missfire , i knew it was plugs again causing it (my went through plugs at about every 8k miles because they set the timing wrong on my car for 3 1/2 years grrrrrrr , but thats another story) so i thought , no problem new plugs will be fitted on the service.
Got the car back drove away and missfired , checked the service sheet no mention of plugs?
went back to the dealer and this is what they told me " SEAT service schedule for plugs is 60k miles " , i said i dont think so , they were adament , so i said phone up SEAT and i will wait here while you do it , low and behold 20 seconds into the conversation 40k is mentioned.
my plugs were fitted free of charge , but thats not the point the so called "experts" knew absolutley nothing , and i was paying £125 + vat an hour for their labour.
