What are the symptoms of a boost leak?

under load the car is making a slight fluttering sound. Doesn't seem to have lost any power to be fair. Just that weird noise which I've never noticed before!

EDIT: I will try to get a video of the noise but it is difficult to do it while I am driving lol

Yeah mine is still there. I changed the plugs and then had inter cooler seals changed and its still doing it. I am sending it in to have the turbo checked for play and see how we get on

My turbo inlet pipe came off a day after I got the car. It got put back on and all has been fine until the past month

Is it possible that the hose has become loose?? I wouldn't know where to look if I was going to check it myself.

I am not too mechanically minded either.

If you do find out anything just let me know .

It only happens to me when its foot down to the floor.

Between 3000 rpm and 7000 rpm

I was told to take the inlet pipe off to the turbo and check for play.
I wouldn't know were to find the bloody thing

Are you running stage 2 or something? Do you have an induction kit? Mine started making a stuttering noise since going stage 2+ which is normal apparently.

Yeah even when running stage 1 the fluttering noise is normal which you only get in 3rd gear and upwards.
Sure it's something to do with boost regulation.
As for crigisback this is not the noise you have.

So that 'flutter' is normal kev?? I started worrying when I read this - I did like the sound, bit like an aggressive flutter - but don't want it if shouldn't be there.

Pitfalls of my first turbo, have no idea what's the norm!!!!

There was me also wondering if the fluttering my k1 has in 3rd gear was a problem waiting to be fixed

Glad it isn't :)

There's been a few threads on it with videos showing it but on my phone just now will look later.
Yeah when I first heard it I thought something was wrong like the boost was being lost but the car still drive normal.
I don't think you get it on standard tune only once mapped as the boost pressure has increased.
Pretty sure it's the dv regulating boost pressure as full boost is being reached.
Perfectly normal anyway.

Have you done any logging mate?
I don't see the point in having a smoke test or leak down test if your logs are ok?

Apart from the noise does the car still perform ok?
It's probably just a trait and you will end up going mad trying to find out what it is.

Not done any logging I don't know how to or have the kit to do it.

I am hoping the garage will do it (vag specialist ) will do it.

No real loss in power just a slight hesitation at about 5k rpm

Took the car into the garage a few weeks ago and they found nothing wrong

Now for the past week the car seems a bit jerky when its idling??

I was out today and as I put my foot down, it started making a rattling sound and I lost power. I tried to do the same after the next roundabout and I lost power and then engine management light flashed on and off

Managed to drive the car back home ok, but when I put my foot down it makes that horrible rattling sound

This happens even if I gradually put my foot down as well

Any ideas??? Going to get it looked at tomorrow if possible
