Been outside again and had a fiddle. One bulb works fine, no errors at all, ive kept the car on for a few minutes. As soon as the other bulb is put in, error is flagged, and the error stays on whether the bulb is on or not.
Therefore one bulb is faulty and i know the other one works fine. So best contact the seller!

When you say one bulb was in, did you mean that one LED was in and one "normal" bulb? Because if I remember correctly, as long as one of your bulbs shows the expected resistance the error light will not come on.

I have not had good experiences with LEDs. They work for a while, then the resistor pops or something, and hello error light.

He means that he received two LED sidelight bulbs, one of which is faulty and not working properly. When he installs the one that is working, everything is fine, but when he tries installing the other one (which is faulty), an error light comes up, even if he doesn't switch the car's lights on.

I sure hope that doesn't happen with me because I'm not ready to pay another 10GBP for shipping, lol.

Hi all,

I have xenons and want to put in some LED DRL's and side lights. Are they an easy install or do you have to take wheel/ wheel liner off or have hands like a five year old to install?

Regards

My leon was fairly easy. There are rubber caps at the sides you can just pull off. The side lights are in the bottom u can wiggle em and look through the front to see if you have them, then you can simply pull them out the sidelights. I had no problem. I don't know what drls are but I had no worries with the sidelights

I don't know about LED DRL's, but sidelights are very easy to install and don't require the wheel arch to be unscrewed or anything. They took me less than 5 minutes to replace on my very first attempt, so I figure it's going to be the same with you. You just take the rubber back off, locate the wire that's connected to the sidelight, just plug it out (no clips or anything involved), take the bulb off, replace it with whatever one you want, and just put everything back in place. It's as easy as that.

Bashiee,

Thanks for the quick response. DRL's are day time running lights, thay come on when the ignition is on. I think they became legal a couple of years ago (some EU ruling!). They only have normal halogen bulbs in them and look really bad against my xenon headlights.

Regards

I wouldn't buy from hids-direct Ebay seller as their Led's do seem to stop working after a few months. I bought the Leds for my number plate a few months back and now they have stopped working. I have sent hids-direct several emails and they have not bothered to reply to any.

I am still unsure about what you mean. Do you mean you want to install DRL bulbs, for instance, into your head lights? Or do you mean you want to buy DRLs under your fog lights like these? http://www.mercedeswheels.com/uploa...g-lights_cd3d517c23b0b72e3c6293e176078e3a.jpg

From what I've read here from several people who purchased LED bulbs from hids-direct, it's really the number plate lights that have been giving people the most problems whereas sidelights, low beams, etc. seem to live longer and give less errors. It also seems like facelift Leons detect LED bulbs and give out errors much quicker than pre-facelift ones do, from experiences of other people who posted here.

Woooh! I'm so excited. I checked the website of Egypt Post today and found that the item is in currently in the airport being checked and will be sent to the main postal office before it is delivered to me. That'll probably take a day or two. Unfortunately I am going out of town in an hour and will be back Thursday morning, hopefully it'll be here by then so I can finally install it. Wow, I've been waiting for it for a week now and I sure hope it doesn't disappoint!

I just ordered some T10 and other led bulbs from dealextreme. There are a few led lights that are error free. I´ll let you how they work when I get them. ( in a month or so) :D

On a similar note, while reversing along a drive yesterday evening i thought that my reversing lights bulb had blown. Got out to check, it was still working but was surprised how weedy it was. Can the bulb in the reversing light be changed for an LED?

Not good with electrics so any help would be appreciated!
