What next after Cupra

I had a go with a gtc astra, it handled well but was gutless
The new Vxr is well over priced.

Interesting.

And yes, the Astra is grossly overpriced, more so than most considering it will probably depreciate £10k in the first year.

It is unfortunate that all manufacturers are putting such a hefty premium on all top line mid sized hatches now. SEAT charging £26K for a Cupra R is a good example.

What car are you getting next?

Now that is a very good question and one I don't have a very good answer for :-(

I really do fancy a scirocco R with dsg but we will just have to see , I have a large chunk of beer tokens to spend and want to make the right desicion this time on a car that works well , a dealer that gives good service ( if one actually eixsts?) and also a car that is tuneable and will
Still give me the grin factor and won't depreciate like a meteor from outer space !

Not that I'm being too fussy lol

Totally different type of car here but I tested a BMW 330d today.
The car dove well enough and went very well for a diesel but I found the interior a bit of a let down.

I wholeheartedly agree. I wanted an Astra before I got the Leon and even the most basic, empty Astra with a 1.6 is ridiculously overpriced compared to other similar cars in the market. The current Astra models are way more expensive than the previous ones, which, in my opinions, goes to show that Opel/Vauxhall is just trying to make up for the losses of the previous model which totally sucked and failed.

Any Vauxhall owners around here, please don't be offended, this is just one guy's uneducated opinion regarding Vauxhall. It's not like I researched in order to see whether they truly failed and this is what resulted in the price increase, however this is what I heard from several sources, including one person that works for Opel in Egypt.

Ah fair enough. They are good cars though, surprised you didn't like the interior? What spec did you see?

It was a M sport when I say the interior what I actually meant was the shape/layout of the dashboard. Especially from the centre to passenger side.
I just thought it looked like a big slab if you know what I mean.
Seats were nice black leather and it had all the toys.
I did like it but just don't know if I could settle long term.

Ah i see what you mean! Does it have the idrive system, i assume so since you said its got all the toys.

My mums old 325d didn't have sat nav and that dash was like a slab. There was the drivers speedo and the rest was a flat line all the way accross!

I agree with someone else saying they'd be keen to go for AWD or RWD for their next car after the cupra. I'm thinking TT RS myself, although I know they're not everyone's cup of tea... and having only just got the Cupra 2 weeks ago I guess I shouldn't be thinking about my next car already lol oh and yeah the interior of the BMWs put me right off them too

haha yeah I can imagine! I test drove a TTS and that was pretty nippy, so I'm thinking a TT RS (especially remapped) would be insane. I just wish everyone didn't think of them as girly hairdressers cars :(

Awesome video here of one: https://vimeo.com/34454806

May just take getting used to. The 330d has a fantastic engine though, 0-60 6.1 seconds as standard.
My dad drives 5 miles down the road (town driving) to work and back for lunch, then there and back again, so 20 town miles a day, 3 days a week, and then the odd trip 10 minutes down the A19 and he acheives 42mpg from that, so they're good fuel economy too! His has only done 7k miles though so not even worn in either!

That's my dream car, mate. Not a 330d, necessarily, but a 320i or above sport coupe 3-series BMW 2010+ (the facelift version). I don't know how you didn't like the interior, because if it's the fully loaded one with iDrive and such, it's one of the best looking interiors with the greatest quality ever. If I ever get it when I am done with university, it'll be in either candy or pearl white with a beige interior because it looks so much more luxurious in that color. My Dad has a black 525i BMW with beige interior and it looks superb both on the inside and outside. The problem with BMWs, and any cars with engines 2.0 or above, is that we pay almost 200% customs for them!!

Do you know how much the 320i sport coupe BMW costs here? Over 56 - 60k GBP depending on whether it's new or used in perfect condition.

Thought you were happy with the R Kev?

Mate, I wouldn't blame him if he was thinking about buying it. I am a huge SEAT fan and a proud Leon owner, but if it came between a Cupra or a 330d BMW I'd most certainly go for the BMW. BMW makes superb and amazing cars, to be honest with you, and I hope that I'll be able to buy one when I graduate from university as I am paying a lot for tuition at the time being and cannot afford one.
