From the other posts I have read of his, he's done it in the past to get a Vauxhall. I would assume that this would be a trend going forward to get a new car every 3-4 years.

Personally I think the guy has definatly learnt his lesson this time and he should be left to his own devices after all this embarrassment. What he has done is not very clever and posting it all on a public forum is stupidity, but complaining to the mobility company will probably get no where anyway. :/

I disagree.

I/We still don't know all the facts, so I wouldn't want to pass any kind of opinion regarding guilt or otherwise, but the accusation here is Benefit Fraud. As a taxpayer I'd rather such accusations were fully investigated.

that seems to contradict your previous topic, here: http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=341499
Where you state that you wanted a diesel engine due to YOUR work commute daily, and that you would cover between 10k and 20k miles per year! Surely that is your personal use and not for your mums needs?

I've not bashed you in this thread, or said anything untoward. However, Jarre is right, I have no issue if you need to drive it for your mother, or even if you use it for the odd short trip yourself, but to say it's for her sole use and then bang on about how you'll use it to and from uni is a bit silly.

I'm sure everyone else feels the same/similar.

if you, and more importantly your mother are confident that you have abided by the rules then you have nothing to worry about. Most people on here pay a lot of hard earned money for what is probably the second biggest purchase they will make hence when somebody gets the same thing 'for free' hackles will be raised. I have no wish to pry into your mum's condition , but your comments regarding the use to which your New car will be put leave you wide open for the criticism you have received. If you wish to leave the forum due to that it's your choice , but will only add fuel to the argument that you are somehow doing something wrong.

Maybe he is paying his mam £54 a week to cover the cost of the weekly rent of the car but he's only 24, whats the going rate for insurance on a 24 yr old on a brand Leon? And the astra sport hatch as mentioned before? He saved himself 1000s maybe even 10k + if he insured those cars himself over the 6years(more if had it for longer) put hey ho the tax payer has taken the brunt of that so he can use it to commute to uni and to work(how is that helping your mam? I believe she does need it but you are abusing the system and you know you are)

You know that's actual confirmation of your mum's fraud?

I hope someone reports this to Motability Operations

Misuse of the Car Scheme

Misuse of the Motability Scheme is something we take very seriously. We rely on the general public, customers, police, Department for Work and Pensions, and others to help us put a stop to it. Every report of misuse we receive is carefully assessed and, if proven, acted upon. Typical examples of misuse include:

Using the car for crime
Denying its use to the disabled person
Using the car as a taxi or delivery vehicle
Driving uninsured or whilst banned
Sub-leasing or selling the car
Allowing the car to become unroadworthy.

You can report misuse to us either anonymously or, preferably, by giving your name in complete confidence so we can discuss it with you further if necessary. If you want to report something, please use the Reporting misuse form, call us on 0845 456 4566 or email [email protected]

Luckily, you can't edit or remove the posts or information. Hell, you can ask me - but I sure won't help you.

The posts must stay, as evidence if not confession of your fraud. If called upon, under court order we'd supply ALL information to back this up.

He doesn't suffer from his nerves it's his "NEVERS" !
as you say, I hope his mum doesn't suffer due to his stupidity, reading his post's on the Astra site he mentions he had to "persuade" his mum to go to the dealers, so how desperate was she for transport? as for 20k miles a year isn't there a limit on motability?

From the Motability Site:-

Motability leases now come with a
mileage allowance of 60,000 miles for
three-year agreements and 100,000 for five-year Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) agreements.

I think you guys are taking this to seriously. If it is a motability car it has mileage allowance and doesn't matter if he drives it or not. It is signed to disabled person and care taker can use the car most of the time (especially if disabled person is not allowed to drive a car). You will not be able to prove if he uses it for personal use or not because he is the care taker. We will pay for it one or other way. It's like many people using their company cars after work hours and claim mileage for it. The only difference that the company here is government and we are the employers.
