My Seat Ibiza PD130 - Big Turbo Time ;) GTB2566VK

Hehe ;)

Right, here we are :)

Box full of goodies here :p
IMG_5697.jpg

Stripped the front end down, starting with wheels, inner arches, front bumper, crash bar, air con rad and lights.

IMG_5698.jpg

Next, removal of old boost pipes.

IMG_5700.jpg

Removal of old intercooler and any surrounding plastics.

IMG_5702.jpg

Fiddling around with boost pipes making sure they fit on the turbo ect.

IMG_5701.jpg

Custom made some crappy brackets that are very strong, drilled holes into the radiator panel for the brackets/mounts to go on to. Beware this panel IS plastic, but yet very strong, it will hold.

IMG_5705.jpg

Top side of intercooler, only fitted one fairly strong mount, just a strip of bent plastic.
But heres the holes of where we mounted it.

IMG_5709.jpg

Just chillin there.

IMG_5703.jpg

Riggin the boost pipes to the intercooler.

IMG_5711.jpg

New pipe downsized to plastic pipe thats standard on the car for now till new pipes arrive.

IMG_5708.jpg

Boost sensor housing here, lead reached fine for sensor, sealed this up as it did leak boost around the sensor at first.

IMG_5715.jpg

Bumper back on after many bumper chops, had to cut off useless bumper mounts which I think is more for safetey than anything, my bumper has not been visually changed.

IMG_5713.jpg

Lights back on.

IMG_5717.jpg

Here are some various other pictures of boost pipes.

Heres the difference between old and new turbo pipe.

beforeandafterturbo.png

Outcome: Took it out for a drive, everything seemed to sound the same from the engine, got down to a dual carrigeway which was fairly empty so thought I would put it under some boost up to the speed limit, straight away I noticed a vast improvement, upper end power and more torque (at least from what it feels like).
Then BOOM, boost pipe popped off the turbo, back to the garage, refitted with TWO of the clips included in the kit and done up very tight. Took for another drive and it stayed on.
Even a few days later I notice the difference still, I think this is due to air flow and quantity of air.
I understand people are going to comment and tell me that its in my mind or this intercooler may be stupid of I did this wrong or that wrong, but I'm open to views :)
Any questions please ask and I will get pictures and answers for you.
Also, the Compressor Surge noise is awesome, I know its not healthy to keep doing it but I love it! hehe :p
Next in line is modified bumper cutout at the front for more air with side numberplate and egr delete kit with boost gauge.
Will keep updating.

Cheers,

Sam

The Intercooler wont give you a placebo effect.. It does give you an extra kick in the back when you hit boost.. Dont people say 10+ brake?

Yeah well I would like to say yeah, 10+bhp.
But then people are going to come shouting at me saying it has to be mapped ect ect :p
I don't want to quote figures till its dynoed and its not being dynoed till the egr delete kit is on and the top crappy plastic boost pipe is shot, oh and intake :p

you did well getting all the correct bends before starting the swap....fairplay!!!

mine was mapped before i put my Forge FMIC on and i certainly noticed a difference when i fitted it!!
it would be exactly the same for an unmapped car!!

Ha cheers :) was always tought "P**s poor preperation = p**s poor performance"
So always like to prepare properly! ha

Yeah mines already mapped so I guess it helps quite a bit :p

Just about to go through your RR (Wait...do you even have one)

nice job I need to change the upper and lower pipes to silicone joints as that one under mine is leaking abit of oil! I noticed more top end but my "current" SS intercooler has blown the cores and I loose pressure. THS FMIC should fix it though ;) what kit you getting for the top half ?

Thanks :)

Its not a kit im getting for the top half, just gona get a 45degree silicone bend pipe and use some of my alimium piping, then a 90degree bend onto the EGR or EGR Delete :)
Gona port polish the inlet manifold too.

Were my pictures good enough to show how the pipes go from the intercooler to the plastic top pipe?

Cheers,

Sam

Edit: I think its going to be 45degree but I have not ordered it yet as I need to tripple check

Looks good mate far better infact, just be careful with the plate in the window as police are being fussy about it! as for pipe work, I only need the top and bottom pipes if you know the people that provide pre done alloy pipes ?

Thanks, and its okay, I have a new plate to go on :)

What pipes do you mean by top and bottom? all of them then?
Don't mean to be rude, but whats the fuss with pre-done alloy pipes, can't you just measure what you need and cut the alloy pipes, use couplers ect and then flange the pipes so they dont pop off?

Really I should but dont have access to pipe beading tools at moment, Im a pipe fitter / fab by trade just dont have any access to bending equipment for thin wall alloy pipes(work in a big company that only work in special material pipes). bending / lengths is a doddle for me otherwise!

Ah what a pain then! bet thats frustrating ha, can you not take it to a fellow bender?

Sorry :p ummmm, well I used silicon bends and straight alloy pipes...I didn't bend any alloy pipes :)
