Do you have the ITG 2.0 FSI intake? Question yourself if it gets good enough cold air?
I have been looking at the original set up and thought about the lost of fresh air that enters from the grille on the car front bumper.

So i did following with the help of a dremel, thick bucket and some zip ties.
After a spirited drive i put my hand on the filter side close to the air director i build and it feels cold and nice. Cold is fast :D

Yes, my intake is not completely ITG as you may notice. The Maf housing and hose to the turbo from the maf housing is ITG parts.
Remaining is home-build but still the same construction.

Tidy up in what way? I am picky person and if you see it in reality without seeing the yellow isolation material around in the engine bay you would easily think it is something you could buy. Sure, zip ties are not the best looking thing but they work =) .
Let me know what needs to be tidied so i can take a look at it. But at the end it is the matter of function before looks in the engine bay according to me.

Ok am not trying to be funny u have done a really good job and looks like it will be perfect for perpose and u have done well to make something like that.

What I don't like is the cable ties yes I know they do the job and there an amazing tool lol
The other thing I think stops it looking oem or factory fitted is the fact it ain't smooth. What I would do it sand down that shaping on the top then fill it all sand it down and paint it too make the top smooth.

That's just what I would do mate

Good innovative work!

What i'm going to do tho, is remove the fog light just below and get some of that silver foil piping thing you find behind washing machines andlead it up to the intake!

Have been looking into that but want to keep the fogs. Just need to move the horn to another position to find some room for the piping.
It has already been done at ITG in a atempt to get more cold air. Look furter down in this theread.

great idea!
abit of man hours, fibreglass and resin could make that something sweet... or even some fabric similar to what your battery box is covered in.

Hopefully ITG will make a similar product and release it for purchase .
Whenever i have been driving around and i jump out to put my hand on the filter it feels cool instead of hot like the remaining engine compartment.
