Hello all :)

Soo then....

Ill start off with the car standard and then how it is now, Then ill run through the build ;)

Standard - 2003, 1.2, Bought as a non runner - Timing chained slipped

183175_1718371531848_1615052189_1619626_465196_n.jpg

And months later it was transformed into this - Taken at Edition 38 2011

This Build Thread Will Be Picture Heavy

So where to start then...

Came across this on Autotrader, First car, 1.2li, Cheap insurance, VW Audi group, Sounded good.

Got it back home and straight away started having a look under the bonnet, Well mainly my dad as he used to be a mechanic.

So we then found out the timing chain had slipped, Put the cams out of timing and bent 8 out of 12 valves, Sweet :)

183778_1718372011860_1615052189_1619628_4187828_n.jpg

Apparently this is a common fault.....So we bought the modifed chain tensioners from the Seat dealer and got to work

184302_1718372691877_1615052189_1619632_4664149_n.jpg

Got the engine running, And it was on the road! :)

1 Month later I crashed it :( Front bushes were worn - Round the corner, Sudden snap of oversteer = Into the ditch....

The build started from here really, I was planning to keep the car standard TBH.

So I needed a front wing, Bonnet and front bumper to sort it out.

Ended up getting the wing, bonnet and bought a Facelift front bumper.

183376_1718372811880_1615052189_1619633_5785262_n.jpg

So while I was at it I ordered a facelift rear bumper and diffuser, Remus centre exit exhaust, Sideskirts, A Fresh standard interior And a set of FR wheels..

Ok so continuing on...

I got the wheels and some adaptors and mounted them up, 20mm at the front and 30mm the rear, With Faulken 195 40 17R all round to avoid the arches..

Took the car up to my mate Trigg to get it sitting Low..

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Really liked it, But with it being so low the driveshaft was hitting the chasis around bends and over bumps. So took it back up to Trigg to get the chasis Notched..

006.jpg

007.jpg

008.jpg

010.jpg

014.jpg

016.jpg

With the chasis now notched, The ride was much better, Also gave me a little more room to go lower, But with lowering it the front wheels had cambered at close to 3degrees so over every bump the inside's of the rims were hitting the struts...

To get round this I simply bought some new adaptors, 25mm front 40mm the rear, Also with spigot rings to elimate the wheel vibration caused by not having hubcentric adaptors..

031.jpg

The extra 5mm on the fronts worked and the extra 10mm on the rears made for a better stance..

So With everything sorted here's a few photo's...

Managed to get hold of some Twinlamp Cupra Xenon's off Ebay also, Dont ask how I just got lucky ;)

So with the exterior not far off completion, I started on the Interior,

Not wanting to go mad on colours or send the car off for someone else to do it, I got stuck in myself.

I'd Decided on a Black Suede Theme, With A couple of Porsche 911 Seats up front and a full Rear Bench Re-Trim..

So first off were the A Pillars

391721_2469718035041_1615052189_2361028_1170297880_n.jpg

B Pillars

077.jpg

C Pillars and few other parts

074-2.jpg

Rear Quaters were smoothed of the tweeter housings and trimmed

318387_2469721435126_1615052189_2361031_378707803_n.jpg

317085_2469724835211_1615052189_2361032_400789020_n.jpg

Front Tweeter Covers

IMG_0239.jpg

Made a holder for my iPhone, Just a mock up, Its going to be made with better quality..

IMG_0227.jpg

Next was the Roof Lining - All grabs handle were smoothed out along with the sunvisors and centre sunvisor also

IMG_0090.jpg

IMG_0125.jpg

IMG_0128.jpg

IMG_0135-2.jpg

The standard interior light was drilled through and a DRL mounted, Looks good in the roof lining and is super bright :)

IMG_0136.jpg

IMG_0139.jpg

IMG_0140-1.jpg

IMG_0141-1.jpg

IMG_0145-1.jpg

Roof Lining turned out really good, Really have to see it in the car TBH

All the parts about complete

IMG_0148.jpg

So went a bought a couple of Porsche 911 seats

IMG_0188.jpg

I Didnt really like the plastic on the back of the seat nor the pocket, So I took it off and trimmed it in suede..

IMG_0190.jpg

IMG_0197.jpg

IMG_0201.jpg

IMG_0203.jpg

IMG_0206.jpg

All Finished, I though this looked much better, A nice touch to the interior also.

IMG_0208.jpg

So, Im having the centre of the seats trimmed in Black Suede and the Rear Bench trimmed to something similar..

IMG_0193.jpg

IMG_0192.jpg

I sent the Rear bench and Fronts to Keith for Re-Trimming..

While I was waiting for the seats, We got to work on the sound system, JVC double din unit upfront with a pair of 6.5' Alpine type G speakers in the front doors followed by a couple of Alpine soft dome tweeters with crossovers mounted in the doors. In the back quaters was near the same, A pair of 6.5' Alpine type G speakers with intergrated tweeter as the tweeter housings were smoothed out earlier when the rear quaters were re-trimmed.

2ff4df00.jpg

IMG_0236.jpg

4dcea978.jpg

The quality was really good, Crisp on the top end and with enought bass thrown in there aswell, A small boot build with a subwoofer is still to come on the audio side, But for now very happy with the audio

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Anyway, the seats were soon back and we got straight to work in fitting all the interior parts and pillars.

Once the Roof Lining and all the other peices were in we unbolted the seats out..

7a7372b5.jpg

Compared to the standard seat's they really did look good

add9e269.jpg

The Dad got to work on the electrics for the front seats..

b7622d91.jpg

Finally got everything in, Looked like a completely new car..

DSCF0964.jpg

Here's the Standard Fronts

And the New Bench in there :)

Cheers, The Porsche front seats were from a local Porsche breakers yard and bought for a stupidly low price, You can get hold of them off Ebay for anywhere between £200-£400 for a good set tho, The rear bench is the standard mk4 bench but ive had the middle seat belt and headrest taken out so its now been converted to 2 seats, The rear bench was just re-trimmed in the same materials as the front seats and to look something similar, The centre sound around the headunit I trimmed in the same material as the rest of the interior work, Took a while to do :)

Hope that help's :)
