Love it mate, My mate Lee used to have one popping and banging lol You got launch control?

I like how quick they just pick up and go,hard to explain to some people If not been in a modded one..but you know what I mean.

Nice work also what your avg mpg then lol

Alright Wayne! thanks for the comments. Your not wrong, just floor it and its off....grips and go's like stink! You do get to silly speeds very quickly, have to watch myself when i give it the beans!

It does have a launch control function but the clutch wont last long on it. Will save it for the odd track day with the MLR.

I tend to see it more in terms of SMILES per gallon! It is very juicy but its only a weekend and nice weather car so petrol costs arent too bad. Still dont regret buying it.....haven't had to shell out for a service yet or tyres so i'll keep it quite for now!

Got the chance to use snow mode a few weeks back, can definatly feel the AYC and TCS working harder, still very planted.

Quick spin tonight to stretch the legs!

So after almost a year of no updates i have one now! Took the car to Dynotech in Kent for a proper map sorting out!

Previous owner "claimed" it was running near 400bhp. I am pretty sure prior to today it was running less.

So, a month ago before today i had it fully serviced by Chris at Autotorque in Aylesbury, car was mechanically sound and in very good order.

His mapper plugged it in to check the map. Not a pretty sight. Very rough map, lots of spikes etc. At the time then we didnt have time to book in some RR time, so the plan was to book it in asap. Had the week off work this week and tried again to book it in with Chris, no joy. Checked out the trader section on the MLR Forum and Dynotech came HIGHLY recommended. Book her in yesterday and mad her fully mapped up today!

Drove down to Kent for 3:30pm. Headed onto the trading Estate and parked up, amazing Evo's littered the car park. Bob greated me and we spoke about the plan of action. Alot of the modding completed before me was unknown. Yes it had extensive service history but no real evidence of serious modding. The service history and condition alone sold the car to me.

Thus far i was told it had a HKS filter, check, decat, check, AVCR,check and an uprated fuel pump. Basic stage 1 mods.

So the mapping procedure began. After the first run was completed and fuel checked i got "that look". Car was running very lean, not good! Fueling was adjusted and one it went again

Bob chucked more fuel at the map but figures were not improving. It pulled pretty much book figures, peaking at 335bhp :(

Quick inspection of the fuel pump revealed the standard pump, no walbro 255 pump:(
15minutes, some swearing from Bob and a lighter walter later she was back on!

The next hour was spent mapping low and high boost settings and Bob having good fun in the motor. Best fun saw her hit 384.5 at 1.7bar very impressive!

But more than the figures the drive home made me smile even more. NEW CAR AND BACK IN LOVE! I cant stop smiling!

Thanks mate! I know, i mean it felt quick when it was running around standard but the remap has transformed it, feel like a new car! Love jumping in it at weekends after driving my work mini cooper s all week. Need to be awake when giving it the beans!!

This is the model I am looking at breaking up my LCR for parts to buy one of these...

Do it! Once you go either 4WD or RWD you will never want to go back to a FF! Especially in the wet you can floor it and not a hint of wheel spin. Was wheel spin city in the ickle ibiza!

You wont regret it making the jump. Yes the petrol costs are high and you have to service it more often, but the thrills these cars give you is something else.

Reach silly speeds very easily, but m,ore impressive is the handling. You can really get near the limit on the road safely, i chicken out before it lts go in the dry, can have some good fun in the wet though!

In other news, earlier last month i had to order a proper car cover. Next doors cat has made my car its personl project, sleeping on the bonnet, the odd scratch along with an untold amount of pollen and dust blowing about! The car is kept under a car port but only offers shelter from the rain!

The cover is nothing short of amazing. Quality is second to none, the fit is perfect and it has three fastening straps that run along the bottom to ensure a snug fit!

Also ordered a replacement filter for the HKS Air filter and bought some Carbon Side Spats from a member on here, this weekend should be fun!

Enjoy and comments welcome!

there is something about these that really make me want one trouble is im saving for a mortgage but its so tempting was quite suprised how cheap they go for as well.

i had a brief look on ebay just to see the prices some go for and was quite surprised that most of them had 45 to 50k mileage of the ones i browsed is there somthing due at that mileage that becomes very expensive? as that was my first thought when i see the mileage on the ones i browsed.

I always wanted an evo from my early 20's but couldnt afford one at the time. As soon as i could i went for it.

They are great cars. proper high performance motors. The performance they giv you for the money is something else. You would have to spend ALOT more money to buy something of similiar or more performance.

BUT you have to be aware of what you are getting in to. Running costs! Im lucky enough that i have my monday - friday company car to do all my town and bulk of my milage. If i had to use this as a daily, the costs would be too much!

Yes you can find cheap ones for around £7-£10K but there are some sheds out there! Poorly modified and been ragged to sh*t! I got mine from the MLR ( Mitsubishi equivilant form of SCN). Was really well looked after, two owners from new and the service book stamped up! Servicing is KEY with this cars, as with most but more so with these dut to the short service intervals. Had mine a year and a half now and nothing has gone wrong. Bought two new front tyres, sailed through two MOTS's, apart from that the only money i have spent on it is mods!

Nice sunny day and nothing to do, so thought i might aswell fit my carbon side extensions, side spats and front and rear carbon badges.

Pretty easy job all in all, just needed to cake the side skirt screws in WD40 as some were putting up a fight and wanted to stay put!
