Alright you lot!
This is my first post on the mk2 section!
I own a mk1 1.6 and I have always wanted a mk1 Cupra R or Tdi FR so I haven't ever had a need to post on this part of the site...until now.
This is typical me, after wanting a sporty Mk1 for years and years, I have had a change of mind. The mk1 isn't getting any younger and I would like a bit of a change.
I never really found the mk2 particularly good looking, but the Cupra's have really grown on me and particularly in white. I went to see a local Cupra for sale today, a red Tfsi, just to see it in the flesh and I was very impressed. Inside and out it actually forced a large....smile. lol
I'm quite a tough one to please as well!
Getting to the point now! Which engine?!
I was after a diesel initially because of the economy, torque and good remapping potential, but I'm not so sure anymore.
My weekly work commute is 40 miles! Weekends I can drive anything from 20-50 miles, which again isn't exactly a lot and my annual mileage is about 3-4K!
I imagine a lot of people that hear those statistics are thinking RS4 or something similar with regards to thirst and speed!
I've got to think sensibly here though, I'm 24, don't have a house yet so need to think seriously about the future. Running costs of a diesel are also cheaper.
The reason I said I'm not so sure anymore is that, would the cost of diesel actually work out cheaper for me? I heard someone say unless your doing around 8k miles annually it won't be any better than petrol, but are diesels better anyway? More expensive to buy but, they hold value too, so that's swings and roundabouts!
Argh! I've typed too much! What do you think?
