Good price that matey, im not too far off paying that on a standard r32 but a year younger :(

Have you been allowed to mirror ncb on your 2nd car, or is it insured from scratch with 0ncb? Im getting daft quotes, even on classic policies, on my mk2 gti because the ncb is on the 32.......sigh!

Looking forward to the end result, its been a great read up until now, make sure you get some graphs and vids for us to gawp at!

Yes I have gone with a company who will allow me to mirror the NCB across the 2, at the end of the day the driver has the NCB and it shouldn't matter which car is being driven IMO.

its a horrible feeling, it wouldn't be so bad if we had lovely smooth roads.

Any news on the car mate?

I know if we had roads that where new smooth tarmac I'd gladly pay £400 a year but we dont!!!

There isn't any news yet but Bill is very busy ATM he is working hard and might have some updates if and when he has time to upload them. At the end of the day the more time he spends online means less time spent on my car :D

Small Delay

It doesn't look like the car is going to be ready this weekend. I had quite a long chat with bill earlier today and the car is starting to have the mapping done at the end of this week and Bill doesn't want to rush it (and neither do I!). There is a lot of work involved with mapping a car that has had this much changed as i'm sure everyone knows also with the amount of money that has been spent the mapping needs to be spot on in order to get everything working correctly with each other.

Bill sent me a teaser pic of the downpipe to my iPhone (so not very big) which I couldn't resist to post up so here it is:

All things being well I should be going to collect the car Saturday 14th of April. :D

Really excited about collecting it and i'm sure it will be worth the wait. Good things come to those who wait so everyone says :D

That's not a problem, I'm down in east sussex and from memory you are in the midlands somewhere? I'll be coming back either down the M40 or M4 so could meet you around the High wycombe / maidenhead area?

Car Tax & Insurance is now sorted. Paid for the insurance today that starts on the 14th April ready for collection.

Been having a look at these liquid gauges for LCR, they look like a great bit of kit so might have to invest in one of those after I get the car back.

A couple of small delays,

Spoke to bill again on tuesday and there are a few things that he isn't happy with that need to be changed. The coolant feed pipe from the back of the block to the turbo was far to short to route it in a sensible place. It was running between runner 3&4 and would probably last all of about 5 minutes once it was up to temperature. Ditto for the coolant return pipe it was just a piece of rubber hosing sitting very close to the turbine housing probably wouldn't even last 5 minutes.

Both are going to be replaced with bespoke hard pipes until well clear of ANYTHING hot to stop them perishing and causing leaks/problems and then go back to a flexible pipe.

My cylinder head has got shorter studs on the bottom corners where the inlet manifold meets the head and as I have got a phonelic spacer it has highlighted a small problem with sealing the SEM against the head. Bill is going to remove the SEM and switch the studs for longer one's that should have been supplied with the spacer in the first place?

Bill is a busy fellow at the moment and doesn't think the car is going to be ready until next week (21st). Going to speak to him later on today and see how things are going...
