Pictures from AmD on Sunday
I had spent 2 day's preping the car for Sunday only for it to p1ss down with rain on Saturday night, needless to say it was filthy again by the time we got to AmD on Sunday :(

I had decided not to run the car on the rollers this time, I've not done a major engine mods since the last run other than a oil, filter's and plug change but the temptation was too strong :D

My last run was 290bhp & 325lb/ft on Sunday I got 283bhp & 330lb/ft :D
Not my smoothest graph

My BHP was down a bit but the day I got the 290bhp the air temps were a lot lower. TBH I'm pretty happy with what it ran :D

I think I might have to have a serious think about where I'm going power wise and start looking at the internals, i.e rods.

The new splitter went down well too and as it's not been ripped off by any speed bump's I'll be carbon wraping it soon :D

Don't get suckered into all the scare talk. Look how smooth your power is and how well maintained the car is. I personally can't see any threat to your rods any time soon mate

Agreed.

If your map wasn't smooth and you had boost spikes, AND rag the car from cold then I'd say they were under threat...

There's loads of scared people on here talking up swapping rods the minute they see over 300 lb/ft.. Mine has been ok for over a year... you've just gotta be sensible and look after the car.

But of course, if people do want to upgrade them then that's never going to be a bad move. It's not cheap though.

I might do mine one day but I'm confident it will be fine the way I've been going about it since I had the car mapped.

This is just my opinion of course :)

That must have taken you ages to get through all 3 :D

I've been busy editing photos from the weekends rolling road day at AmD, I'll be back with an update later :D

Yeah took a weekend or so, it's really helpful though, watching others go through problems with the same engine you have, an you can see the fixes in pictures. I know more about my Leon than I ever did for any earlier cars. Been on here a couple of months all in all, just never posted a comment asking stupid questions because if you look hard enough, the answer is already there! :)

Bent rods is one thing, it's when they blow a hole in the engine block, that's really gonna ruin your day, as Dan knows well.

Not saying whether or not anything is scare talk, just pointing out that RR graphs have a certain amount of smoothing applied so it's possible that the power curve is not quite as smooth in reality as on the graph.

IMHO the rods thing has a lot down to luck, I've read of folks with pretty average stage 1 maps (maybe about 275bhp and the same in torque) and they've been driving along at a steady 70 on a motorway and *bang*, hole in the block due to a snapped rod. Then you've got guys like t0m running well over 300 for a long time with no issues.

If it was me, I'd probably play it safe but then I've had more issues with my car than most, even on the standard map. Just my 2p's worth, that's all.

Car looks awesome as always D.K, awesome results there too, must be a lot of fun on the road :)

100% agree with this statement. Really is down to luck. DannyLad bent rods on a pretty much standard car, others have pushed out rods due to high cylinder pressure and others i.e. Underwood over here, pushed them out because they wanted their rears to go BANG ;)

In front of the car was a traffic cone [:@]

I'm going to take it over to Maz soon to see if we can get any more out of it if not it'll have to be resprayed.

I've also moved the RARB off the soft setting onto the hard setting, since fitting the 15mm spacers on the back I've noticed when carrying people in the back the rear tyres have been rubbing through the rear arch liners, we did a bit of a test yesterday and it only seem's to rub when cornering and if the rear compresses to much on bumpy road's, hopefully the harder ARB setting will reduce some of this, if not I'll either have to raise the rear a bit or replace the 15mm spacers with 10mm

I've also done the N249 bypass with the help and persuasion of Tom and El

I've always been a bit unsure about doing this but as no one else seems to have problems caused by it I thought I'd give it a go. I've not had a chance to drive it since so I cant coment on what effects today's tweeks have had.

Took the car out for a bit of a run today, the N249 bypass has made quite an improvement, power delivery feels smoother, DV is a bit louder and the car just kept wanting to pull :D

This afternoon I wraped the underside of the splitter.
I had to do it in sections as I did'nt have a bit big enough to do it in 1 piece.

Once the resins are dry it'll get a light rub down then another couple of coats of clear resin, being the under side the finish is'nt too inportent as it'll probably get scuffed.

The top side will be wraped in 2x2 twill carbon and finished to the same level as the engine bay part's :D

A couple more pics from AmD last weeknd

Told you the N249 bypass was worth it ;)

Splitter will look really good once you have finished wrapping. Let us know once you have done it so I can get a good look of this DK splitter!!!
