Another update, but this time I am not just posting more picture of parts I bought, I actually did some work on my car
On the weekend I had to tackle a couple of jobs.
First of all my passenger rear caliper was stcking, badly. For the whole week I was going to work with the disc rubbing against the pad, making an awful racket.
Once I took the caliper off, I saw the one of the sliders was seized, forcing the inner brake pad to rub against the disc, so much so that it went though the pad surface and had worn away most of the backing of the pad too
Pretty scary really, I knew something was up but couldn't do anything about it as I had to work, and when I get home its too late and dark to fix it.
Had to remove the slider with a hammer and chisel, cleaned and greased it up and its all fine now.
The second job was to change my fuel pump. The sender was playing up giving incorrect fuel level readings, had a spare pump lying around so did a swap over.
Pretty simple job. Only thing was, I had already swapped the pump over last year out of another Cupra R I had in. Thing was when I compared it with the pump from the latest Cupra R I broke, the part numbers were different
Checked the part number online and it appears I have been running my LCR for nearly a year on the wrong pump, suitable only for a 150bhp 1.8T
Once again, slightly scary stuff. My car is not mapped so guess the wrong pump wasn't under too much stress???
Anyway, so far the car feels maybe a bit better performance wise, hard to tell. One thing for sure is the economy is much better on the new pump, by at least 3-4mpg each journey.
Dread to think how much petrol (and money) I have wasted over the last year
Ok, enough rambling. Got on the phone to my brake refurb guy and the calipers are done and ready to be sent out, he sent me this pic just now:
Not the best picture in the world, but still I think they look awesome! Some black Brembo decals will set off the calipers perfectly. He was going to do that for me, but I need them back for the weekend so will do it myself.
Brakes will be fitted this weekend all going well, can't wait
