Leon passed its MOT saturday :)

Got a couple of advisories to deal with.. including an Oil leak which would make sense as to why im using oil... but the charming garage wouldnt tell me where from! *******s.

Not that the garage would EVER be hoping you'll just book it in for them to sort eh ;)

I avoid normal garages for MOTs now, only use the local council depots as they have no incentive to fail a car just to get work (as they can't do any repairs to private vehicles).

I had to argue an MOT fail the other year on a rear indicator bulb which wasn't "flashing the correct shde of orange" Funny that I'd replaced the indicator bulbs with new ones the night before to avoid this nonsense lol.

strangely, they dont get business from me... the garage three doors up takes the car in for the MOT and then he fixes it... so they usually just tell me whats wrong...

this time though... nada info! :censored:

well the car is back in on Saturday for the 3" decat fitting as my mate cancelled on me... going to look for the Oil Leak too and maybe raise the suspension a bit as my new falkens are catching on full lock.

depends if he will do all that for £20! haha.

Im not leaving pools over water under the car every now and again. the garage assures me thats just the aircon as im using it more but i will top the coolant up and see what happens.

nah i havent filled the coolant since like april...

the pool is about a foot wide, which sounds lots but i tested with a cup and an inch or two of water can make a puddle the same size... so thats why the garage advised it could be the air con.

My mots are great hand them the old one come out with a new one lol

LOL! Likewise

Only because I know my car would fail on emissions, however I maintain my car well and half my mates are mechanics, so I'm constantly at their garages checking stuff and getting them to check stuff underneath the car, engine, and replace anything that would make my car un-safe, no expense spared.

Well, don't say it needs topping up then :p

Chances are it is the air con, i'm using mine more due to steaming up, but never see the puddle, but then again i'm not looking for one lol

haha ok, it needs filling... mook! :p

yeah id guess so, im steaming inside but im also leaking from the f*cking doors again lol

will fill it and monitor it over the winter.

So my list for now is:

Decat
Find oil leak
Raise suspension
Oil +fuel filter Service (cabin and air done)
tidy up the advisories (rusting suspension components)
refurb wheels (been quoted £50 for the four... which is just paint as my mate has just taken up bodywork and wants a project. need four wheels to sit on though)

all whilst trying to save for a mortgage! haha

The Top three are costing £20 as i have the decat and my mate is doing it :)

the service will again be parts only, and the rust will be sorted with my drill + wirebrush attachment and some hammerite: total cost: £10 max.

the refurb is coming from the sale of a few bits i was saving for the car (headlight protectors, amps, speakers etc) just to tidy the car up and make it worth a bit incase i sell.

3" DP + Decat fitted Saturday... was a ******* if im honest. The milltek cat back section needed a reducer making to fit the decat, which i had luckily from the original cat.. so i had that welded to the decat. sounds rough but it just makes for a better seal.

Have ordered another one ready for next year and the MOT + Cat. :)

Sounds much better. pulls much harder and spools much quicker. can hear the turbo whine instantly now.

No pops and bangs as yet... i get gurgling if i dip the throttle and let it fall... mate mentioned letting the decat "coke up" and it might pop etc but im not bothered really... she sounds lush :)

the garage who MOT'd my car are Tw@ts too... there is nothing wrong with my balljoint at all... had the car suspended via the seals with the wheels hanging and no movement at all!

did notice a CV gaitor split to f*ck though, which the MOT place missed!! so i will order another one (if anyone has a rough price?) and get that done soon.

fixed the banging on the rear, was the exhaust clamp hitting bolt hitting the beam. swapped it round so the bolt faces upwards... sorted!

busy weekend on the car :)

Inner CV boot replaced - this had been split for a long time, and i have slight pitting on the CV joint now, but nothing major. cleaned it all up and regreased... lovely job.

Serviced the car, minus the spark plugs which didnt turn up! [:@] The oil was Black as fook, which pissed me off a bit as the car was supposed to be serviced before i bought it. no bother though, flushed it with Forte flush and stuck 10w 40 in (after advice by AMD) to see if it cures my oil usage issues!

tried to raise my passenger side suspension, but the rings were seized solid and we were running out of time, so i will have another go another day wheni can soak the rings in wd40 for a few days.

might also have a set of alloys coming, £150 for 17s with tyres... buddy club reps. im going to trial fit them for a month see if i like them, get my RS6's refurbed whilst im at it and if i like the buddys i will sell the RS6's on. if not the buddys can go back to my mate and i got my RS6s refurbed :D

got some DRLs to go on too for a front end change :)

small update:

decided to go with red bits inside... and settled on candy apple red. went a bit mad in the end and ended up with this:

console.jpg

i have the front and Rear "S" badges the same colour too... but not got a pic as the car is filthy!

finally got a boost gauge in too.. the "universal" boost holder was a royal f*ck to install... cue dremel and brute force! :D

gauge.jpg

boosts nicely, peaks at 20 PSI and holds at 18 :)

next up: windscreen then MOT november :(

hey dude,

i used regular panel paint from my local motor factors. got them to mix the candy apple red for me. also colour coded it first, but decided to go red.

make sure you get plastic primer too. I had to rub the console down to the black plastic all round, as the paint reacted with it if there was any left. right pain in the backside!

but the outcome is cool :D

had my wheels refurbed at the weekend, as i had planned to have them done from the start.

spoke to ape about the colour he has, but in the end went with a red that is close to my mudflaps, so if i keep them they match.

ended up with Seat Cosmos or Rodeo, forget which is actually a Seat colour!

They need a flat and polish but will wait a week or so for that, being done in a shed they have some laquer overspray... nothing major though!

The tyres will be dressed at the weekend, but i put them on last night at 9pm! couldnt wait!

Thoughts? :handbags:

*edit*

also looks like i have reverse rake here, i have normally but not that much.. carpark slopes :)

That's ace mate! first time spraying? that's a job well done bud. How much is that spray kit?! what would you recommend for a beginner ? I'm good with rattle cans etc, done a few wheel refurbs in the past.
