I took some photos of your car at the MIVW event this year but unfortunately I'm not allowed to post the link :D
I definitely need more posts ^^

Just another question:
Did you purchase just the wide-body elements from tuning4u.be or also the "kit-car"kit?
'Cause at the tuning4u.be shop these parts are two diffent "body kits" ... You can buy the "WRC" kit which includes the fender and side wall or the "kit-car"-kit which includes the front, sideskirts and rear bumper...

It has been a while again since I reported here.. Such a shame, I know.. So here goes again!

About a month ago I stopped at a traffic light, just as usual. My head wasn't in a 'race-mode' so drove of as calm as I could (;)) and then all of the sudden rttrtrrtttrtrtrtrtrtrtrtrtrtrtrtrtrrrrrrt
Broke the right front axle. That sucked. I just washed it!

And it was extra bad, because I just painted the towing eyes a week before! So after towing, I ran to to the front and as if a mirracle had happend, the fresh paint wasn't damaged! Whoohoo!

Thankfully, a donor provided a new axle, and I was on my way again the next day.

Sometimes, when I'm just finished washing the car..

Perfect picture moments :)

As I mentioned a page back, I finally got to do some work under the hood. Mr. Intercooler got properly connected, the towing eyes got a bright new shiny color, Upper and lower strutbrace..
Found a picture lying around, just thought I'd share

and finally le pièce de résistance. The beeza at sundown:

Seeing this picture, I realize I need spacers at the rear again.. 10mm/15mm should do the trick..

Oh and @Stadles: Still one post? where are the photos!? :p It's been nearly 3 years since I bought the kit.. I can't really remember the details anymore, but I know I'd spend a lot of time searching for it..

Really nice pictures.
I'm trying hard to get my postings ;)

Where did you get your tank-cover from?

Right, just found another thread of yours where the links are posted.

Seems as if I'm slowly finding all the suppliers I'm in search for :)

Yep, we wanted to check it out. Was kind of our summer holidays...
Stayed in Norwick for 4 nights and spent some time in Amsterdam and other cities around.

Pretty nice event, we will be there in 2012 as well if it gonna take place.

That is very beutifull and intresting project!! Like it very much!!

By the way! Have You tuned that TDI? Except changed that itercooler.

Thnx! Well for now it hasn't seen much tuning.. I fitted an open airfilter, larger injector nozzles, larger intercooler and a custom made exhaust. Other than that is fairly original. But I still have a spare AFN TDI which is going to make his way into this car. All the thing done to this engine will be swapped to the other one, and that one will be chiptuned.

Wow, reminds me of an integrale

Love it!

Thnx!

Actually I spotted this topic about year and half ago! When I had some CRAZY ideas to make WRC look a like my old SX Cordy. But the story ended like it ended!:crash:

Now got some wild dream to make 2-door Vario!! It´s now two seater so who needs 4-doors! So maybe it stays dream!

Here we are again!

Started to get bored, and so I came up with a new project. We all know the iDrive right?
Since I have a carPC, and 3DConnexion had a little product called 'Space Navigator' (usually used by 3d designers to tilt, turn and zoom easily)
This Space Navigator can also be attached to my little carPC, and programmed to do al sorts of stuff. And the iDrive look-a-like project was born.

This is a Spacenavigator:

And these are its functions

Because it's somewhat important to know what you're going to build besides a design should be made. And so I did.

This is the result I'm looking for. Probably not with the carbon in the beginning. Maybe a fase 2 design in the future..

That looks alright to me, time to build it then! Because I don't want to sacrifice my real SpaceNavigator, a mold had to me made.

Not bad. Sstarting to look like the design (somewhat). To make it extra double challenging I'm going to build it with ABS plastic. No polyesther, no filler, just a ABS panel. How you ask? With a vacuüm (cleaner)

My DIY VacuForm case:

And my DIY €5 electric oven.

Lets start it up then for the first time!
~20 minutes later
(this used to be an old commercial sign, pretty colors!)

Not bad for a version 1.0 right!

Lets cut it out:

And cut it out some more, do a little sanding, and test fit with the SpaceNavigator!

Works alright. So next step, radiator controls, and fitting in the car:

(Are you seeing what I'm seeing? )

I'm pretty pleased with the result. I actually build something I could drop on the floor, without it being damaged. AND it fits pretty nice too. Next week Í'm going to work it out some more. Maybe maek a version 2, or work on version 1 a little more.

Hi Hakkow,
I've read right through your build, it's quite an achievement!
I to am going down this route with my mk3 cupra r. I'm after a bit of advice is the kit you used for a mk3? Only I have found a kit in czech which says it's for a mk2. Obviously I don't want to go this route if I can get a mk3 kit as it should be mildly less hassle!

I've tried contacting all the uk sellers of the wrc kit with no luck so I'll try the guys you used next.

All help is well appreciated
