Idrive continues..
Just like usual, I waited to long to post back.. but here I am again
Porject iDrive still exists, and still not finished. Here's the progress so far:
I had to recreate the mold, because of some minor flaws in the old one. It's a learning process really.. But it's good fun
The old casting was to big.. I didn't calculate the width of the material would be added to the width of the mold . Also pre-drilled the holes for the fan knobs
And BOOM! there it is!
I'm going to remove the old window buttons, and install tumble switches to enhance the rally car feeling. It's a bit of a mix of nostalgia and modern interior with the luxurious SpaceNavigator and the CarPC screen, and then there’s the tumble switches also used in the Ibiza rally car
Now it just needs some nice paint, a yellow striping to match the gaugepod and the gear shift thingy (whats it called again? gear knob?)
Beside the dashboard I also installed yellow xenon. Because a car can't be yellow enough
AND we're back in summer mode. Last year my rear brake got stuck, spraying brakedust all over the OZ's.. this resulted in burned in dust..
But, then there was IronX.
and voila, clean as a wistle
