Good stuff. I think the REVO map will be the best bet and it allows to step up if you decide to add on additional components. Matty will look after you and if you come to the meet, we can log it all to make sure its running fine.

Cheers, looking forward to the meet, and getting mapped. That said though, I was in the car yesterday and was wheelspinning in 3rd on part throttle, really frosty and cold and my front tyres have seen better days, so it'll likely be another couple of months before I can get a real idea of how much more torque and power I'll have.

Re. the mapping, it's been brought forward to tomorrow - the g/f is going to drop the car off at Wallace as she works near there, original plan was for Thursday but turns out she's got a meeting then so had to rearrange for tomorrow :)

1.5 litres of G12 and about 4 litres of distilled water.

I always take a lot more to flush with some distilled water and then poor the new coolant in.

Cheers mate. I see you live in Greece, I wonder if the ratio of coolant to water should be different in the UK - it's obviously a lot colder here!

Some more minor updates took place at the weekend but I'll post them later on once I get pics sorted.

i live in south greece and i only use my ibiza for some quick spins so...

Looking at the information from Elsawin (thanks Craig!) it suggests about a 60:40 mix in favour of the water, not sure if that's UK specific or not. That gives antifreeze properties down to about -25C. Last winter was pretty close to that where I live, may even have been colder sometimes. The guide says use 50:50 for antifreeze down to -35, that should more than cover it.

So 184.83 g/s peak, happy with that. Interestingly though, as on the previous lot of logs, Yohan's de-screened MAF showed a peak of 197 or so. Haven't returned the old MAF yet, am tempted to hang on to it and descreen the housing and swap my good element into it. Will do some re-reading, there were a few threads going about on this recently.

Anyway, the new MAF is reading better and has cured the correction factors I was seeing at high RPM so that's cool. Other job this weekend was changing the coilpacks. Got some of the red ones from Awesome, pics below:

I had assumed that since I'd never heard of anyone else with a late mk1 LCR getting their coilpacks changed on the current recall that my car and/or existing coilpacks weren't going to be eligible for it, so went ahead and bought these. Checked a couple of them when I took them out and they look like very early parts. I wanted to change them anyway as the car is getting remapped tomorrow and for peace of mind thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to change them.

In hindsight I suppose I should have called Seat and chanced getting them changed for free but I guess I can always ring them and if they say to bring it in then change them back to the old ones. Besides, these ones look nice :) Had to bolt the N249 stuff back into place though as I couldn't be arsed finding a new home for it as this would mean digging the cable out of the coilpack loom, might do that some other day.

Revo stage 1 linear map tomorrow - can't wait :)

Cheers Ronin, been a pretty painful and expensive year but starting to enjoy and trust the car again now.

Dunno what revisions the 1.8 coilpack recall covers but the couple I checked as I was pulling them out seemed to be early ones, "06A *** *** A" I think. Have an idea that one may have gone while someone else owned the car and they got a set off a wreck at a breaker's yard or something.

TFSI packs are meant to be good, I would have gone for those but wouldn't have had time to get the adapters before getting it mapped and I wanted fresh coils in before that.

Cheers Josh, yeah looking forward to it, hopefully the roads are a little less frosty tonight, was pretty slippery last night. Did think about getting the ECS coilpack clamps but tbh the ones that were in there before and the new ones were pretty f'ing tightly pushed in anyway. Oh, sorry I meant to ask - you mentioned you'd added a new car to the fleet?

Anyway, Mic at Wallace Performance rang about 10 this morning to say the car was ready so the g/f is picking it up at lunchtime. Will take it out for a quick spin this evening and post back later on :)

Well, map done, car home, had a quick spin tonight. The word spin being the operative, i can now spin the wheels in 3rd, 4th and even once briefly in 5th :) It was hovering about 0 celsius and there was visible sheen and frosting on the road. Add to that some pretty shot Vredestein tyres on the front and I just couldn't get any power on the road at all really.

I can tell that there's a fair bit more torque there tho, last night was similar conditions and it was spinning em up in 2nd and a little in 3rd if vicious with the throttle so that's something. I did once manage to find a reasonably dry stretch with a decent speed limit, and feed in the throttle carefully enough to retain traction and aye, it pulled a lot harder than before. Hopefully it'll be a touch warmer at the weekend during daytime and I'll manage to see what it's like a bit better but at least it'll be there waiting for the cold weather to pass.

One immediate benefit tho is that the throttle response mapping on the Revo Linear map is very nice. Feels more predictable, smoother and just better behaved when driving around town. I've still never got to the point with this car where I felt I was getting gearshifts spot on every time but it felt a lot easier now. You also don't get the same lurch forward about 1 second after coming off throttle after the overrun drops away and the engine braking kicks in so even without being able to really tell what the extra power and torque is like, the car just feels like a better car now.

Really pleased for you mate! Glad to see you've finally got a map on her :)

Only heard good things about the Revo Linear map from Gonzo and a few others, so it's a good choice for sure.

the revo linear is fantastic.

quick tip
as it suggests, apply the throttle at a progressive rate.
i.e. progressive from 3000 rpm and then fully planting your foot by about 4/4500k - the car really makes the most of the map, responds so damn well compared to the old revo map!!

you'll feel it ALL the way thru the rev range with this technique.

Cheers Joeb, had a little time to drive the car this evening before the roads got too frosty, it does seem to respond better to feeding in of the throttle but maybe that's just cos then I don't have as long to wait before the boost kicks in.

Speaking of boost, the car now pulls much harder in 3rd than it used to in 2nd. Come to think of it, it possibly feels as urgent in 4th as it used to in 2nd. WOT in 2nd was still not do-able with the conditions tonight but 3rd on a 70mph road when it kept traction saw the speed limit appearing very quick. Happy camper :)

Looks like it is set to get milder this weekend so we can hopefully get some power runs down the Aberdeenshire test strip :p

Hopefully give you a chance to stretch the Leon's legs a bit and test out this new map :)

When we do logs, would I be able to try your MAF dude?

My car seems to be loosing more and more boost as time passes and now I'm only making 18psi. Just want to rule out MAF and N75 seen as I don't have any boost leaks or any fault codes.

I'm wondering if it's slowly failing like your one did as my g/s reading is lower than it should be as well. The MAF is only a couple of months old though :S

Hey buddy, yeah hopefully the weather improves a bit, can easy log MAFs and N75s providing I'm not still rushing about sorting Christmas stuff out! Should be done and dusted by this evening though so will be in touch.

Re. MAF readings, could just be because the air temp is lower then the pressure is lower too. Also don't forget, ME7 ECU is a torque-biased one, it doesn't request boost directly as such, it requests torque - if it's able to meet torque request based on throttle input with lower boost then it'll do that. Best bet is to check MAF readings alongside actual vs. requested boost - if it's meeting requested boost then there may not actually be an issue. Fickle beasties, these 1.8T's. Might be worth you talking to your mapper too.
