done this last week, cost me about £55 in total.

I had one key, small round 2 button remote fob key. No spare key.

I bought the squarer type, 2 button flip remote key, from a seat altea on ebay for £11 ish
I bought a key blade, cut to a photo of my key from a company i found on ebay also for £10
I bought a virgin / blank ID48 glass type transponder for £5

I put the key together when all the parts arrived. Matched the remote to the central locking by doing the key in door method as described on here.

I paid £30 locally for a guy to program my new key to my car. *found him on gumtree*

£55 ish in total, cheaper than the dealer so im happy. Plus the altea remote works from miles away unlike my old key remote which had to virtually touch the window before it worked.

Hi, are you in the North East by any chance? If you are could you send me details of the guy that programmed your key please, cheers.

Been looking at getting a 2 button remote key fob off e-bay so started asking around the local key cutters for quotes. Most wouldn't touch cutting a key off e-bay with a barge pole as they said the steel was too hard and damaged their machines. Timpsons said they would but couldn't guarantee the cut. What's people's experience with Timpsons? The key fob on ebay is £40 and the cutting costs about £10 so don't really want to get it messed it up!

Also am I able to code up the remote locking chip of the new key with out needing to get the blade cut to test it works ok? Just thinking I could re-sell the new remote key fob on e-bay if it doesn't work :)

I have recently spoken to Timpsons to get a price on cutting a key off ebay and they told me they wouldn't do it as it is against company policy - they can't guarantee the key after cutting it as they haven't supplied the key. They said they would only do it if they supplied the key/fob which would cost £100 plus, this includes programming

yes in north east. used this kid on gumtree called mick. he was ok to be honest, didnt really seem to be confident what he was doing. had several machines to extract the code.....he ended up using the same machine i had bought from ebay (super vag k+can).

When i did it myself, i got the "dashboard pin" using super vag k+can. Due to the shitty support and no manual with the device, i didnt know if this code was correct or not. I then found out that the device is crap at programming keys, so returned it to the ebay seller.

Anyway back onto mick.....he eventually got the code and after afew attempts i had two keys programmed and working. He made several phone calls to someone who gave him advice on the machine he was using.

mick on 07900875638 hes in sunniside, gateshead (top of lobley hill, towards burnopfield, stanley etc)

if your newcastle way, try a google search for newcastlediagnostics - i think this is the bloke that mick was talking too on the phone, newcastlediagnostics sell the devices to read/program keys. Would be more confident using this bloke.....

Mick charged me £30.

Probably who I used. Timpsons key was cut so bad, it didn't go in the lock first time. A bloke does it over the web from a jpeg and it was a perfect fit

Help!!!!!!
Bought everything I needed - new 2 button fob, got key cut and bought transponder.
I know I have to get the transponder coded but I cannot sync my new remote to the central locking.
I've tried every method I could find but it just isn't working.
I originally had a fixed blade 2 button key and have gone for a 2 button flip key. The main part of the key bought was this one - 170692248129 on eBay.
Can anyone tell me if this should be the right fob?
The key has been cut fine and starts the car with my original transponder in it but just refuses to sync with the central locking

My car is a 2003 Toledo 1.8T

Yes mate you can use your old transponder chip from your old key just ensure your blade is cut correctly, although you may still have to code it for central locking which if you look through this thread i posted the AUTODATA official method for doing so,

I am sooo confused ! LOL !! I have only had my new car for 6days. I have just one 2button key for my 2000 leon. I got some new batteries put in as i thought this was why the remote didnt work, but the remote still doesnt work. Now this is the 1st time i have ever had a key with any functions etc. as my last car was 20yrs old, just a plain old key !
Can someone just give me a dumb arse step by step to what i need to do, thats if your not too bored with this subject yet:think::think:

Can someone please confirm for me....

Does the flip keys work on an 05 Mk1 Leon FR?

I have 2 normal 2-button remote keys....
Can I just take the transponder out of one and put it into a 3-button flip-key?
Then do I just get the key cut and that's it ready to go? Or do I need to program the remote?

Cheers

That's what i've done and it works fine putting the transponder into my new 2 button flip key but yes, you'll have to pair the new key to operate the central locking - i done the original key in the ignition and the new key in the door lock method and it works fine.

Theres 2 parts to program, the remote and then the transponder (for the immobiliser).
You can do the remote by following the guide on this thread but you'll need someone with the relevant software to do the immobiliser part. HTH.

yes,i know that but i was interested to know that can the remote be programmed with only one original working key?
i've two original keys but only one is working and that is that one with the original remote, the other one without remote has the broken transponder..
so,can i program the flip key remote with just one working original key?

to program the new transponder i need the skc code and to write it i need vag com, hope i'm right.
