Got the DHgate cable the other day, works a treat on a 56reg MKII stylance. Which version of software are you guys using from the disc as i am using the 10.6.0 version of VCDS. Which other one is compatible with the cable without f***ing it up?

Only 10.6.0 works with mine from DHgate. All the other versions break it.

I had a few things I wanted to do but nothing major so just bought the £17 DHgate cable (VAG 113)..

Had it a couple of days and cannot get full functionality. Tried both 11.3 Beta and 10.6.4 but both are handle the same.

The major modules I cannot access [09 central electrics], [01 engine].... however I can play with 17. Instruments and confirmed it works via enabling staging of the dials.

Used drivers off the disk and re-installed a couple of times, also tried both ignition and engine on to see if that makes a difference.

When I run the test/save I get all okay messages... So connection does not seem to be a problem.

Anyone think I'm missing something here?

Have you tried a full scan ? if so what does it say.

For most modules you do need the ignition on though.

Also do you connect the lead to the laptop before the car, this is what I do but some find they have to connect it to the car first.

Hello, yes I managed a full scan and it seems to run okay. A lot of modules say something along the lines of not supported?

The summary of items at the top everying is listed as Status: OK 0000 apart from 09 Central Electrics which is Status: Malfunction 0010.

I usually connect the cable to the computer first before the car... So will attempt this after work - thanks. Might be worth copying in the autoscan too?

Well I managed to get further than yesterday... Plugging the cable into the car seemed to help it recognise modules during an auto scan, then the dreaded message:

w9tniu.jpg

Every auto scan I did eneded up like this today... just at different stages (I must state I've never used the software or cable while connected to the internet) - Yesterday i managed a full scan with the log below.

Even though on some of the logs it managed to read the engine module, I still couldn't access it individually.

Example log below:

My cable from dh gate which ran 10.62 has worked great until yesyerday when I went to change something it said you need a licensed version. After removing software and putting it back on it still wouldn't work.
I kept getting an error saying no communication K line blocked. Anyway after trying and trying I forgot the cable was plugged in and went on the net. Now the cable is dead.
Is it worth buying another or just keep an eye out for a 2nd hand genuine one?

I'm having no luck too getting my cable(106) to connect to my '08 FR TDi. The software on the mini CD has many to choose from so I chose 10.6.4 but got stuck with a "Interface Status = -2"
The pic shows the details.
IMAG0004.jpg

Not sure if I should use different software on my W7 64bit laptop though. The wee disc came with 908, 912, 10.6.0, 10.6.2, 10.6.3, 10.6.4, 11.2beta, 11.3beta, a manual, a folder called "TOOLS" with MProg 3.0, hex_usb-rosstech.ept and a CDM 2.02.04 WHQL cert RAR file.
No idea what software is best for my 106 cable and laptop so any help pointing me in the right direction would be mighty handy.
Also, my internet was always switched off throughout. Just had a thought, all the software has installers so how would I just copy the files across to a folder and run the .exe from there? That might have something to do with it.

The whole point for me was to figure out what the fault was that has stopped my heater blower from working. Fuses all checked ok and the display works on the dash and I can hear the controlers the direct the air all working. It's just the blower :( Might need to post this last paragraph elsewhere too for even more help with my beloved FR

Cheers.......Mad Jock

Does this cable no longer work with the VAGCOM software?

Looking at getting one but don't want to spend £200+ on a cable I'm likely to use two or three times.

Does this cable still work?

http://www.bestofferbuy.com/super-8...o-interface-car-diagnostic-cable-p-49911.html

I only want to fiddle with a few gucci codes [B)]

Or would this one work? included with correct software?

http://www.dhgate.com/vag-com-vag-1...8-vag/p-ff80808132c9ca720132f35c23e238f7.html

Or this one??

http://www.dhgate.com/vag-com-106-3...-10-6/p_ff80808130e5a5220130f30182551688.html

so many cables !! :D

I've got a 2007 (MY08) Leon Cupra

All of those cables contain pirated copies of our firmware. VCDS is not freeware. The interface cables from us contain the licensing for the software.

You can get the proper legal HEX+CAN here:

http://store.ross-tech.com/shop/VCHUC.html

You can also use the lower cost Micro-CAN option:

http://store.ross-tech.com/shop/VCuCAN.html

I agree. Why is the license so expensive? I can appreciate that ross tech are running a business but many users on here just want to change autolock on or off or something simple like that and don 't want to pay $200 or whatever for the license nor a garage £100 to do such a simple thing. Would it not be better to offer a week's license for $30 or something so that Ross Tech can make some money and the users are happy with the price also. Any thoughts anyone? It's called a compromise :)
