Got everything mate, the whole shooting match. It's just the other stuff hasn't arrived yet.

Going to start to strip the head down, remove cams, valves etc. then give it a good clean. Any pointers?

I have only got as far as stipping mine down, dont want to rebuild it if its just going to sit about for a few months.

Make sure you use a motorbike valve spring compressor for the inlet valves as car ones are too big. I used a little magnet on the end of a rod to remove the keepers as they can be a bit of an ass and get caught up.

Easy enough job though, just take your time and keep everything in order.

forget about keeping everything in order then! Im not rich enough for new lifters aswell :(

I had exactly the same thaught, but after having a good chat with Alex I have decided to leave well alone.
Its not just as simple as increasing the size of the ports, the shape is also very important.
The balance between the inlet and exhaust ports needs to be taken into concideration too. To do it propperly you need access to a flow tester.
By increasing the size of the ports but getting the shape wrong could actually slow down the airflow.

Unless you know what you are doing I would leave it to the professionals.

to be honest, i'm debating about gas flowing the head all together, just had a look and the casting marks are quite promenant, just don't know if i want to spend £500(ish) on head work on top of everything else.

Still an extra £200+ that isnt really needed if your lifters are fine

I dont thing the gains would be worth the extra on a 3071.. Im leaving mine well alone.

Casting marks arent always a bad thing on the inlet side, as it adds turbulance to the airflow meaning a better air/fuel mix.
