Displays current speed in mph and outside air temperature PLUS you don't lose any of the other measured unit's (MPG, Average Speed etc) just gives you an extra option.

i want! need to get my VCDS working again now and i bet this isnt available on the Pre-Facelift ones

Thanks mate I thought someone would know.
Took 2 minutes and looks good.
I think it changes the format of the display slightly but everything else seems to work ok so good.

.
Cracked it! :D

This is such an easy re-code to do, literally took me 2 minutes once I found the right menu.

Made a step by step guide if anyone is interested in doing it theirselves:
(Apologies for the crappy phone pics)

Step 1: Connect up to VCDS/VAGCOM in the usual manner, then select Instruments under the Select Control Module menu.

Step 2: Select the Coding sub-menu

Step 3: Select Long Coding Helper

Step 4: Select Byte 0 Bit 4.7 drop-down menu then select 10 Country: Rest of World (RoW)

20111018183349.jpg

Step 5: Exit Long coding helper then hit "Do it"

That's all you have to do on VCDS/VAGCOM but now you will have to change your MFD Settings, Units menu to the correct UK format from US format (imperial to metric).

Step 6: Un-tick the Alt.speed dis to activate the "Alternative Speed Display"

Step 7: Final stage - Change your units for Consumption to MPG and Temp to ˚C.

Job Done, hope this helps!

Greg.

Top post Greg

I was wondering if this could be done a couple of weeks ago when I figured out the DRL's. The only thing different on mine was that I got an extra line entry in the MFD Data menu where I had to tick the box 'Digital Speed'

10 hero points duly awarded matey

All sorted now, I think the last time I tried it I selected Australia after reading on a forum but selecting rest of the world worked a treat.

Cool could I buy your thing of you, or maybe you could lend it to me, would be a waste buying a new one on eBay for £80 just to change speed thing :)

Just get one off dhgate that's what I did for less than £20. If you get version 10.6.# it will work with facelift Leon's and ideal to have if you have a problem.

I tried this today, and after this point, it says that the module has not been initialised and asks if VCDS should use suggested numbers. I accepted, waited 30 seconds or so, and no change - cancelled out of the operation.

Did this happen on yours?

No such problem here, module accepted code change first time.

I wonder if it could be that mine is MY11 and maybe coded differently? How long did it take to accept the new code?

The code was accepted with out any delay.

What version of VCDs are you running and does it let you do a full scan without any problems.

I have full VCDS running version 10.6 currently. I have no other issues with regard to the functionality.

Is your car MY10 or MY11?
