i need some help i am planning on getting my tfsi fr remapped but still have an extended warranty with it just wondering if anyone else has had warranty work done with a mapped car and is there any way the stealers can find out plz help me. Thanks :)

The dealer could definitely find out if they (a) wanted to and (b) put some skill/effort into checking. Whether they would actually bother or notice is debatable but certainly a remap would give them an excuse not to cough up for an engine-related warranty claim. It's a risk you have to weigh up yourself really.

Most re-mappers will put the map back on free of charge or for a little fee if it gets wiped by the dealers

get the map taken off before it goes in for any warranty work and then get the remapping company to put it back on afterwards??

ive now asked seat dealer in derby and they say there is really no way of them finding out the only issue he came up with was if the ecu gets flashed itll be wiped thats not an issue just get it put back on agen but surely if the fr develops a boost leak for example they would find boost levels that are higher than normal. The guys who map cars say there maps are untraceable by dealers too how true is this. THANKS FOR THE ADVICE GUYS MUCH APPRECIATED :)

All they need to do is take it for a test drive! Some dealers won't care & personally I don't see why they have a problem with a remap....... they are claiming the work done from Seat direct, it's not out of their profits!

Get it Revo'd & get a SPS switch!

Or Superchips Bluefin.

A dealer can always check the flash count on the ECU which is a give away if you've had your car mapped. I think most dealers won't bother unless you are seriously taking the mick.

future issues? if the dealer is willing to honour the warranty and remap it for you i would bite their hand off, how much if you dont mind me saying?
