True, when in gear and clutch up you would be wasting your time reving any higher than that. I seem to remember my old FR TDI used to rev to about 2800-3000 if I did that launch control thing. I must add that I never actually walloped the clutch up at those revs. This is because I have some mechanical sympathy.

A good launch is nowhere near 4500rpm.

My 1.6tdi has it, and if you turn the traction control off it disables it so you can rev normally

It should have. It was stripped, lightened and running large amounts of NOS.

Maybe a slightly better example of a similar launch against a more similar car ;-) - first few seconds on the clip.

12.7 @ 107. Fastest my old chariot ever did was 12.9 @ 115.4mph. S3 gains on launch, but after that, loses out to front drive. The launch is awesome on the S3 though.

I would be surprised if this was marketed as launch control regardless of what rpm the needle sits at when you floor it in 1st at the likghts with the clutch pressed in. I'm no expert but I would have thought 1800 revs would be nearer to the sweet spot due to the fact that, that is about the point that the engine makes peak power.

Well for info my engine makes peak power at 6000 rpm.

I wouldnt do this very often....unless you enjoy paying for a new clutch!
