Just spent about 45 minutes reading through this entire thread. Your car looks stunning and it's clear that a LOT of work has gone into it, from keeping it in good nick, modifying it (tastefully!) and relentlessly cleaning it. Much respect for that, and to be fair, it all pays off because you wouldn't look at that car and assume it was 13 years old. Looks very new. Great example of a Mk.2, probably the best I've seen yet.

What are your plans for the car in the future? Will you be selling up, driving it into the ground or upgrading the engine? Imo, it would be a shame to see this car go!

Thank you for the comment, I really appreciate it and it means alot that someone thinks that about the car, especially as it is a daily. I have put alot of work into the car and Im really happy with it and I feel like it is 'mine' if you know what I mean. Have spent a fair bit in bodywork the last 2 years fixing a bad dent on the passenger side and the start of rust on the rear drivers arch. You wouldnt think that I use it as a daily.

Plans for the future are that I will probably drive it into the ground and if/when the engine goes I will probably take it off the road and drop something else in. I have spent to much on the car to let it go. Don't think I could even sell it, I have had the car for over 6 years and I still like it. And I don't want to sell it and it ending up wrapped around a tree and scrapped.

No problem. It's a fantastic looking car! Is the Alpine White paintjob the standard colour? If so then that's awesome, suits the car really well. Wish mine was white. I know, the interior (seats/roll bar/strut braces) make it look like a track car, not to mention the lowering and OZ alloys.

I'm pleased that you'll be keeping this and just dropping a new engine in it, it'll give the car another 13 years+ of life which would be pretty cool. I'm planning on doing the same with my Mk.4 when it dies. At the minute it's sitting at just over 70k miles and it's 8 years old, so when it starts to have major problems in a few years time I'm contemplating getting the 1.8 20vt put in to replace the current 1.4. Will keep it going for longer and would also be a nice power gain!

What engine do you think you'll be putting in your Mk.2?

The Alpine White is a standard colour that the car came in, tbh there isnt many in white about regardless of whatever engine/spec is available. It does make it look like a track car but I am happy with that. The 'rollcage' is actually just a polished show cage but I like the look of it. The front seats I got a really good deal on and it was too good to turn down and I had always wanted a set of those Oz wheels so when I had the chance I took it.

The current engine has 135k on the clock but still going strong. I have every single receipt from new, including the invoice for the car, so I know every job that has been done to it.

I am not sure what engine I will be putting into the Mk2 when the time comes. Just enjoying the car as it is just now! :funk: [B)].

Yeah I'm not sure I've ever seen a white Mk.2 in my life!
To be fair, I never really see many Mk.2s as it is, and when I do they're unfortunately not always in the best of condition.

I think the track look is great, don't get me wrong! I'd love to do something similar with the interior of my car but just can't afford it and wouldn't know how to get everything fitted. If I bring my car to university in my second year I might look into buying a couple of racing front seats, or a couple of front seats from an FR or Cupra, then strip out the back and get a rear strut brace in, as well as a front strut brace like you have.

Well over the last few weeks I have lost all love for the car since I found out that I need a new clutch  :(.

I was sooooo close to just packing it in and selling the car or breaking it for spares, but I bit the bullet and its going in for a new clutch and cable tomorrow so I am rolling in this tomorrow:

PICT0093.jpg

Its alright, dont sitting in it as I feel really 'enclosed' in it and the power steering is far too light for my liking but as long as I get to work and back tomorrow Ill be happy :).

Hopefully I will get the love back for the car once the new clutch and cable is fitted.

I am at a point with the car that I dont know what to do next to it or too 'improve' it so if anyone has any suggestions etc I will be greatful.

Thats all for now!

You've got a really nice ibiza, and to sell it and move on would be an easy way out... If you fancy something newer or something faster, then its completly up to you.. But you have had your car for a long time now, do you think its time to move on? Im only saying this, becasue i have been thinking the same for a long time.. And I know these 1.4's engines are cack... And lets be honest, The build quality isnt up to the standard of an audi/beemer is it..

I know mate, I'm not that highly strung, don't worry! :) Ha! You get what you pay for, Audis are known for their more executive class and build I guess?

I would love a newer car and/or faster car but I just cant afford it with the commuting that I do and with my job situation, been on a 10% pay cut since July. Im hoping after having the clutch done today I will get the love back again for it.

Well this afternoon I got my car back and I really cant believe the difference in the clutch :-o. Its even lighter than the last clutch I had fitted, although this time I had both the clutch and cable changed. I also got new gearbox oil and the gears are alot smoother now :D.

When I first drove it I thought it wasnt right, too much pedal travel but that could be after driving the Clio as its pedal travel wasnt that much.

So hopefully things will change tomorrow after my drive to work in the morning!!

Well I am please to announce that the love for the Ibiza is starting to come back!! :D!!!!

After my drive to/from work today it is like a completely different car to the one I done the same trip in on Tuesday. It pulls so well now in every gear (as well as a 1.4 should anyway) even when in 5th gear to overtake. The clutch is sooooo light now, need hardly any pressure to press it in, wasnt this light the last time I had the clutch done!!

It is all good!! :funk:
