Well after 5 years of driving my Yellow Leon Fr TDi170 I have collected my latest Seat which is an Exeo CR Sport 143 in Track Grey.
It is a year old with 5500 miles on the clock and picked it up for 13.5k which seemed a pretty good price.

Not been able to enjoy it much yet as weather crap and I have trapped nerves in my right shoulder which makes everything damned uncomfortable including driving !

Anyway I hope it gives me as much trouble free motoring as the Leon did.

I'm an ex MK2 Leon PD FR TDI owner so I know how you're feeling. :D Although mine is the CR170 so I'm not lacking any punch. The Exeo is so much better built. and has such a nice ride.
How do you find the air con? Is it a little bit lazy compared to the Leon?

Will let you know once I get a chance to use it.
Frustrated that have hardly been anywhere since collecting car on Friday due to trapped nerves in my neck/shoulder as I can't get my right arm into any comfortable position. Off to docs this morning for different painkillers as what he gave me last week had no effect at all.

Scored a set of brand new genuine Exeo alloy pedals off ebay for £10 at weekend though !

Have had the car 6 weeks and only done one decent length journey but I am really pleased with the car.
However I was less than pleased to find some strange scratches on the front passenger wing on the flat of the wheel arch. Too deep to polish out so £180 going to bodyshop to get sprayed. No idea how the marks got there and bodyshop man was baffled as well as the scratches don't all go in same direction.
I am careful where I park but some twat has managed to damage it.

5 years with Leon and not a mark put on it. 5 weeks with the Exeo............

For such an understated car, the Exeo seems to attract a lot of attention, especially in dark metallics. Perhaps it's the rarity value, or something. Mine is an '09 CR143 Sport in Urano grey (where do they get these names from?)and while it looks a bit odd from some angles, it's stunning from others. And the colour seems to range from almost black to mid-blue, depending on the light. I live on a terraced street and am v. worried about damage. Had to get a complete respray on my recently-departed V5 Toledo when it was keyed down both sides, across all panels, on successive New Year's Eves. So it must have been the same moron each time. Makes you wonder whether it's worth having anything nice when that happens.
Interesting to read elsewhere about how the Exeo responds to miles. I bought mine this week with 34k on it, so it's slightly up, but still feels quite tight. I'm a private buyer, though, and it was at a decent price and in good nick, so I thought - why not? Work has meant not much time for driving this week (I tend to use the train for commuting) so looking forward to a long trip soon because it seems well-suited to that kind of role, with a bit of back road hustling thrown in. It's very hushed in the cabin and seems like a good place to spend time and the ride's quiet and compliant even with the Sport suspension. My son's put 300 miles on it (free insurance for 7 days) since it arrived and says it's a great car. But then anything would be after his Citroen C2 (Group 1 car, but still £1k insurance for a 23 year-old)! It's a sunny day, so I'll give it a wax and then go for a blast in it for the first time. Looking forward to it already.

Damn!

Spent so long minting the Exeo, the sun was setting by the time I got out in it. Wearing tinted specs for the glare initially, but after a stunning sunset realised I'd forgotten to bring my night-time glasses along. Felt such a **** wearing shades after dark - and almost certainly looked like one too.
Car looks great, though - and got 48mpg from a motorway/A-road/city centre mix. Initial impressions? It takes a long time to warm up and the diesel's a bit grumbly until it does, and I'm surprised it won't trundle along in second in 10 mph traffic without feeling that first might be a better option. First gear feels too high and second is a tad too low, in my opinion, but that might be me not used to it yet. First also seemed a bit reluctant to engage on occasion, but no biggie. Engine's a bit gruff below 1500 revs, but smooths out nicely around 2500, and most of the diesel clatter seems to stay outside the cabin where it belongs. But then I've just traded in a V5 Toledo, so almost anything else feels a bit agricultural after its turbine-like smoothness. Ride is on the acceptable side of firm but at least it's quiet. Bit of road noise on coarser surfaces.
The armrest's a pain - always seems to be in the way, especially when operating the handbrake with it UP, never mind down. (The one in my Toledo went "click" one day and refused to budge forever more - I didn't miss it). Handbrake also feels a bit cheap and creaky, as do the door bins.
Never thought I'd hear myself say this, but one thing I DO miss is the Toledo's electric seats. The manual set-up in the Exeo just doesn't have as many options to play with for making sure people in the back have adequate leg room too. For the size of car, it sure is tight in there. I'm 6'3, and raising the driver's seat seems to remove a bit of under-thigh support for lanky legs, which was never an issue with the Tolly. Have to do a bit more experimentation to find the best compromise, I think, but if it was company money - rather than my own - and the budget allowed, I'd go for the electric option, along with the BOSE hi-fi. The standard one's OK but a bit weak on bass, something I imagine will need addressing in the fullness of time. Maybe uprate the speakers?
Still, you buy the best one you can afford - and this model still ticks all my boxes, although a decent drive will have to wait. But it's already proved it's fast, efficient and pretty luxurious. I'll be interested to see if it has a personality too.

Update please!

Hi, 12 String - just wondered how you're getting along with your Exeo? Really beginning to like mine ('09 143 Sport, Urano grey). The only drawback's the seats, I think, which grip in all the right places apart from under the thighs (I'm 6'3). Getting 47-52 mpg now I've learned to drive around the turbo, rather than listening to the engine note (last car was a petrol V5 Toledo), but think there's better to come with a bit more effort. Seems like a solid car for not a lot of money.

Hi Clive,
Really liking the Exeo. A very civilised place to be ! Nice and quiet to drive and even managed one journey on A road & motorway which gave 58mpg !
At 5'10" I don't have a problem with the seats in any way.
Just got it back from bodyshop today after getting scratches fixed on from wheelarch (still a mystery as to what caused them though)

Re memory stick - I use a 2gb one and have set up 6 folders and load albums into these 6 folders but as stated in another post you don't get any track info which I do miss after the Leon.

Just debating on buying the steel wheel / winter tyre combo deal from mytyres.co.uk which seem reasonable at £109 per wheel in 16" which will fit the Exeo. Won't do anything for the look of the car but if it saves me getting stuck that's all that matters (especially up here in the Highlands) Checked local tyre place I usually use and he wants £131 per tyre for the 18" wheels that are on the car , but then again he will charge me to change back to the Bridgestones that come off it in the spring where I can just change the whole wheel easily whenever the weather turns bad and store in the garage for future winters.

Maybe you should go away for the New Year though, or stand guard in case same moron tries to key your car again.

Happy motoring.

Managed a personal best of 54mpg coming back from work tonight, so you've given me something to aim for there!
Sorry to hear about the damage to yours and hope it wasn't TOO expensive to fix. Wish I could garage mine for winter - don't fancy trying to get a colour match on the Urano grey if someone takes a key to it like they did the Toledo, and suspect the Exeo won't be as good in the snow with those big wheels. Winter tyres - excellent idea, but I blew the budget on buying the car in the first place!
