Does anyone know if its possible to wash the blue colouring out of the Jetex cone filters?
I'm wanting to try one out as they're one of the better cones on the market, however my engine bay is red and black and I dont want to spoil the look with a blue cone.

If possible I would want to dye it red, however I'm not sure if this would have an adverse effect on how well it filters and flows.

If I cant I'll probably try an Apexi, only thing putting me off is how lost they look in the LCR bay.

Any help appreciated:D

if theyre made out of cotton, then maybe, you could bleach it and then dye it red. As for the apexi, theyre a very good filter and a few guys run them on here

i know that the k&n filter oil is red if you did get the colour out

Yeah I've got a K&N at the moment and dont really need a new filter I'm just curious as to whether the Jetex or Apexi will flow better

The Apexi is an option I'm really considering although as I said they get lost in our bays:

Compared to the K&N:

Bleaching may work but would it have a detrimental effect on the filter?

To be honest I dont know if it would affect it in any way, the Apexi may be small but apparently it can shift some air and filters much better than its rivals. Dont know what its rated at though, ask Mo or Wayne

I was thinking of washing my jetex cone and dye it red with fabric dye. My only concern is if the filter gets wet will the colour run and what damage would this do to the running of the car. I have my spare neuspeed cone. My use this as a tester :)

I thought about doing this ages ago. I bought a jetex second hand from another member to give it a go, but its not really the cotton thats blue, its the wire mesh thats blue! so if you did dye it then you'd still have the blue mesh. I even tried sanding/stripping it but this was more hassel than it was worth. Saying that, I'm loving my apexi!
Also check out BMC i think they have just released a new RED open cone filter for 2011. Similar to the Apexi but I think it also comes with a carbon fiber half heat shield.

I didnt realise the mesh was blue aswell. It may be a waste of time then. Think I'll need to find a donor old filter to have a go with before I buy a new one;)

As Jetex do a red filter (only rated to 250bhp) I decided to drop them and email to see if it was possible to make a red FR-08001 cone. The sales department mentioned that it would have to be a minimum order of 25+ however this is not guaranteed as the factory is shut for summer, but they will inquire when the factory is open and get back to me. Also cost would increase by 10-15% due to the limited run, but not confirmed.

I am looking for any interested parties and I'll keep you updated with any info Jetex get back to me with.

I'm not selling these, justing trying to gauge any interest there is and maybe acting as a middle man (for no financial gain) to get these distributed to others (if it goes ahead). Obviously it all depends on cost and numbers. :D

I'd be interested in a red jetex as I've just decided that the theme for my bay is going to be red!

suppose you could go k and n . I still think the apexi would be best, theyre rated highly too. Just keep your standard airbox put a greenpanel filter in there and paint the airbox red.
