Alpine iDA-X311

Good afternoon.. I come home after 4 months away to my new Leon Cupra TDi within the next week and I plan on treating myself (And the car) to a new stereo. I've been looking at these new Digital Media Recievers and have come across the Alpine iDA-X311. Is this stereo any good, pro's and con's of the system? I have noticed a few members on here have one or a similar model.

If not, can anyone suggest a good stereo to buy? I haven't got a strict budget so to speak but I'm hoping that I won't spend any more than £200. I'll just be using it to play my iPod through and listen to the radio. CD player isn't required but not a problem if it has one.
I'd prefer for the aux cable or ipod connection to be at the rear so I can feed it in to the glove box, keeping the front tidy and clear from any cables.

By the way I apologise if this is in the wrong section, however on quick glance I could not find an ICE specific section!

Thank you guys!

Depends on budget... I had an Alpine iDA-X305 in my last Leon, now replaced by iDA-X305s.

Was an awesome stereo, so I'd recommend that...

I also have the iDA-X305, it's a great stereo and I love the little TFT screen. What's different about the "s" version?

Cheers for the replies guys! Without looking I believe the X305 was the one priced at around the 280 quid mark, am I right? That might be a little too steep for me however like I say money isn't an issue but I'd like to try cap myself at the £200 mark.

Can you guys clarify if the aux/ipod is at the rear on these models?

The AUX is definately on the rear of the X305 and X305s.

The difference is very little from what I can see, other than a bit more chrome and apparently a few bug fixes.

All I can say is the X305 has a flawless iPhone/iPod interface. Sooo easy to select music etc, and looks amazing. The red matches the Leon red LED interior perfectly.

Thanks MrBen, I'm browsing the 305s at the moment but struggling to find a red one, only blue. Or can you change the illumination on them? They're a bit cheaper than I first thought!

My friend go with Alpine iDA-X311, at least that you need to listen CD's, but in these times who doesn't have an ipod? The stereo is very fast and the controls easy to use, you won't regret it!

I've bought the 305s but I'm having troubles fitting it to my car. Thought it would be straight forward like most stereos but it's not.

I can't get power on, it looks as though the looms are the wrong way round or something.
Any advice?

Now that is bizarre, as mine won't get any power on. The speakers loom matches up fine which only leaves the power loom to fit in to one slot as per any other headunit. Ive tried swapping the red and yellows and to no prevail. The connections don't match up on the male and female heads, which leads to me wonder if that's the issue. it's awkward because the colours aren't the same, i.e. the battery is yellow from head unit but on the cars loom there isn't a yellow. Also how did you guys connect your 6CD Changer to it as there isn't a slot for its connector.
