Bit of an Update

Some of might have seen I posted in another thread about having the breaded miss fire and flashing CEL and EPC light.

Well I have just had a call from Seat. The car has multiple miss fires on every cylinder. So it needs a new set of plugs.

The interesting thing however is that the dealer said they won’t put it as warranty due to the car being modified :( In the past they have been very good with Warranty work and mods so this was a little surprise.

I took a trip down there as it is just round the corner..... low and behold they are being inspected by HQ today. and the HQ guy was actually ok. I had a bit of a chat with him and we came to the agreement that the problem mine was having was not the common fault that a large number seem to have, the majority of them have a problem on the 4th cylinder and mine is on all. They also showed me the plugs and they were SHOT lol

They agreed to cover 1/2 the cost so I am getting it done there.

I also got them to take me out in a demo car (FR) which had the common problem. It was completely diffrent from mine, Mine just miss fired and still tried to pull, the one they took me out in just died on its ass and didn’t sound like a misfire but more of a bang. Very strange.

Should get mine back soon, and as it is now a second car I am not too worried about it happening often. My confidence has been knocked a little by the car, and my confidence in SEAT has also been knocked a bit.

From speaking to the HQ people and the dealer, it seems Revo and SEAT have fallen out a little over this problem with the engine.

Anyhow I got myself a new GO-PRO for my MIVW trip and will be burning it in so expect some vids when i get the car back :)

Hope it gets sorted out for you.

Did they actually take you out in the FR knowing it was broken?

Sorry to hear that mate. At least she wil get sorted but in all fairness I am gonna get shot of mine too just in case this happens to me. Have to admit my car has been ace and when I went to the dealers last week there were NO misfires recorded on the car at all. i still can't leave it to chance however, SEAT need to hurry up and bring out the new engine for these cars or I am defo gonna get the DS3R!

I went there and there are no misfires but they have sent the fault code away so they can find out what it was as they don't have the latest vcds disc.

What is it with VAG engines and misfires?
I remember the days of the MK4 Golf GTis and missfires, usually coilpacks, do they still use the same suppliers?

Well I’m away for most of the week now so I’ll let you know what it’s like when i get it back.

I think it mine was because there using crap plugs, the Revo will of course adjust the fuelling of the engine and it is just not burning all the fule.....

I'm 100% in the same shoes as Jason have my advert already written up saved on word ready to go just can't bring myself to it because it such an awesome car and I love it to bits, but I won't love it when I have to fork out for a new engine or a rebuild like racebrake which is also being considered. But waiting to see his results first and if he can solve it!

Well Seat called and mine is up and running now. There master tech asked me if he could roat test it with the Revo on A and B.

To witch I said, "Yea why not, but if you break it you pay for it" apparently he just wanted to see if the extra fule was being burnt.
