thanks for that Bill, interesting stuff. I had missed that build, some nice fab work on the mani there ! is there no end to the Badgers ability !! :)

respect for all the work / research you have been putting into these hybrids. I have had numerous issues, and been close to binning it so many times.

3 turbos later (1x JBS / 2x CRT), I think I have had my fair share of bad luck. All turbo related faults have been replaced under warrenty, but does not cover the pain/cost of keep removing and refitting

Hi Greg,

If you don't mind me asking what exactly were the faults you encountered with the CR hybrids ?

Regards
Morgan

Hi Morgan, i have sent you a message about the turbo issues. How are you getting on with the manifold / hybrid setup - done any further mapping ?

After cutting various spanners and trying numerous types of nuts, the manifold is finally on the engine.

Just waiting to decide what to do about the ABS pump before putting car back together. Not enough clearance for the 3" tip, undecided on moving it like Roly has done on his Mk2 or just binning it altogether.

Hi Greg,

Thanks got your PM.

No really progressed any with finalising the mapping, but hope to make sometime in the next week or so to get it completed.

bit of a **** to fit then :(

looks lovely now its on

Thanks Bill. Deffinetly dont want to be doing any manifold work again for a while !! Dont know how you can do all this stuff full time !!

How did you manage to do up the top DP to turbo nut, and the mani to turbo bolts on the DP side??

The DP to turbo nuts were fairly easy to access with long socket and bar. They will be difficult to access once in the car, but have used some Aerotight nuts which hopefully will stayed torqued up.

It was the hidden turbo to manfold nut and several of the head studs which were really difficult and took hours to do.

Used K type nuts on the turbo to manifold studs, as these are really small diameter and only ones which would fit. The hard to access head studs needed a low profile nut to be able to fit, so used some Binx type nuts on these, as they were the thinest type available.

Some of the chopped up spanners used to fit.

That will be good, fingers crossed. Look forward to the update Morgan !

Had a trial fit of the engine. Manifold runner close to the clutch pipe, so will need some extra insulation / modification.

The clearance for the 3" tip doesnt look as bad as I thought, and pretty sure will be able to get something sorted without moving the ABS for now.

Looking good, I noticed you have a VVT tensioner too, what are you doing about this, I assume you're staying with the OEM narrowband ECU?

Hi Joe, did look into changing back when it had Custom Code 3 mapping done but ended up staying narrowband, the VVT is just left disconnected.
Im not sure on the plan when it gets set up this time round, I have a complete Seat Sport loom for the engine which can easily be adapted to a standalone management system or may just stay with the narrowband. Something to discuss with whoever ends up setting it up again.

I've used Aerotight nuts on the last mani I fitted, worked a treat :)

Hi Damo, good to know mate - i dont want to go near them again in a long time !!

wow..... cant wait to se more loving the build.

Cheers Peter, getting there slowly - one of those never ending projects / money pits !

Not really much of an update. Just been playing around with the intake and water pipework.
I have managed to work intake pipe for the 3" intake so the ABS does not have to be removed, but have had to lose the heater for now due to the pipework.

After some hunting around managed to source a cast alloy water take off with just an outlet for the radiator and boss for the temperature sensor. Without the takeoff for the heater and one below it for the oil cooler it saves some space just where it is needed.

Another interesting little part for the build. Not an item usually found on a road car !

Where did you find that elbow from?
badgerwagen and a few conversion builds would benefit from this too
could you let me know where you found this?

FPA car or New F2 car - Mounttune?

many thanks

Hi Bill, hope you got my mail and managed to sort one.

How have I completely missed this thread! I thaught I was the only one :(

Hi James, hope your build is going well, just gave your RR a read looking really good mate ! Sorry I went hybrid with a JBS05 back in 08, just dont get on SCN much to update my thread.

looking good mate , i'm also now getting a forge actuator of danny , but have no idea how they work will need to read up on it

Cheers mate ! Forge actuator is good as can change springs around to suit setup, make sure you get the correct spring and it all set up properly.

Greg, I'm looking into a wideband conversion in my RR so that may also be something to look into. I will resistor out the VVT but it may be something I add at a later date. Not sure if it's benefical enough to warrant buying another tensioner though.

The vvt only retards timing on start up to reduce emmisions.. no performance gain atall
