It's an amazing bit of kit Tom, literally designed to the finest detail to make sure it fits the LCR so you can really see why the price is so high. Anyway you can check it out on Saturday!

Hi James, really sorry to hear that you now have the same issue, at least we now know that Stage 1 can't handle the 3" TIP. I did't cure my surge, I just adjusted my driving style so avoided WOT...for ages now. I replaced a few things but nothing cured it, the FMIC was the last attempt but now that my N75 is dead I cannot boost to try it out but I suspect the issue will still persist. It really needs to be mapped so this Saturday should hopefully see the car right. Are you around? Pop down if you can.

unforunatly i've got the laborious task of moving house this weekend so won't be able to make it, sorry. I need to get my car booked in for the custom exhaust but after just booking a holiday for me and the mrs I might have to adjust my driving style for a month :(

Certainly will be inspecting it Saturday if all goes as planned mate :)

This makes me realize how far I have to go with my car, and it's a really long way yet! At least a year..

Which software you going for mate?

AMD again Mike, I'm on stage 1 and to be fair it's been great but it just cant cope with all the new parts on it, needs to be totally tweaked. I've had surging & injectors maxing but the map was put on when the car was standard so the ECU has no idea what's going on right now :D. I hardly drive the car though so it's not been such an issue but finally I can get it sorted! More than anything I can't wait to use boost again, the last 2mths I've averaged about 36mpg on all trips.

No probs James, there will be other times and I'll post up in here what happens on the day.

Brilliant Jay, certainly looks the part.

Cheers dude, pop down on Sat if you're around.

Don't be silly mate, where my car will be on Sat is where yours is now. Next up for me is RARB, engine mounts and ummm I think that's it.

Not in comparison to yours specifically Jay, I meant in my own mind of where I want it to be. Sorry should have made that clearer..

Yeah I'm hoping to get a RARB, FARB and all the polybushing done by the end of summer. New brake setup, fans replaced, new FMIC, front & rear strut braces and then think of the clutch!

I felt the clutch play up a bit yesterday in reverse at the Pageant, but it's been fine since? I think she just threw a wobbly about being in reverse instead of 4th! (my favourite gear)

She's ALIVE!

I just picked up my new N75 on my lunch break and fitted it to my car, reset the ECU for 30-40mins and then connected everything back up and went for a gentle drive to warm everything up. Oil got up to temp and what did I do? Hammered it of course :D and all I had to say was "oh f@ck". This N75 must have been failing for a while because it's made such a difference & although I now have a FMIC on, it was never like this before. It's totally insane and where it used to tail off power wise up top with the SMICs, it just keeps going and nailing me to the seat. I think we may be in love again but I know my IDCs are topped out so I cannot wait for the 4bar FPR and Stage 2 to be done.

Happy happy happy!

As for the FMIC, there's no additional lag that i've found at all, 2500rpm or thereabout and I seriously need to hang on. Strangely my 007 sounds quieter than it did before...maybe time for a service or who knows but boost is definitely there and I have that buzz and pop from the exhaust on a gear change back.

As for the surging, the FMIC has pretty much cured it. There's still a little bit in comparison to how it was it's non-existant, of course surge of any kind is bad so the mapping will sort that out.

Fantastic news mate!! FMIC will for sure be helping that top end push back into your seat feeling as the temps are kept down.

It sounds like your over the moon with the car again. Wait for stage 2 ;)

Big race fmic is on my hitlist now too as you've just backed up another claim that it's not causing additional lag on standard k04.

How much was your N75 if you don't mind me asking?

Cheers Tom.

I have no basis for comparison but the FMIC is doing its job very well. Once I'm mapped we'll go for a spin and you tell me :).

I paid £35 for the N75 from GermanAutoPartsDirect.co.uk but I bought it through their eBay shop for the buyer protection...would you like a link?

Link would be great mate :) Which variant do we need? I'm thinking about buying a backup one..

You can log the intake temps on vagcom. My mate Martin did this for me after we fitted my FMIC. Drops in intake temps of around 10-30 degrees on average! Bye bye heatsoak! Well not completely.. but I found I could push the car harder for longer periods of driving.

A spin would be great bud! Be good to see how your LCR feels in comparison with mine, running the same map..

No problem, you need the 'F' version which is now technically the 'E' version with the latest part number. The numer most likely written on your current N75 is 058-906-283F but has now changed to 06A 906 283E: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-N75-valve-...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cb880df1f

You can buy 'J'or 'H' versions from the Audi S2 or S4 but you need the car mapped for it really. The 'J' I tried out from Jay (lol) worked just fine but the car wasn't totally happy with how it was controlling the boost, the new 'E' valve that I just put on confirmed that.

What's the block for IATs? I'm going to register my VCDS Lite this week or next so that I can log all blocks and have access to the basic settings for TB reset.

You could always get one of the Phenolic Inlet Mani spacers to prolong the cooling of the Inlet Mani? It'll keep temps down a little longer.

I'm looking forward to your feedback, you're a seasoned Stage 2 owner with one of the most impressive K04'd LCRs so you would know.

Back to AMD Mike, I have faith in them and they've been very good to me & my car. I know that they had some teething issues on Tom's car & Adam's who were the first two for the new map but they've since been sorted so I'm happy to let them do their best on mine. I hope I have something impressive to post up this weekend :)

Cheers for the link mate, perfect :)

I think it's block 004, and a quick google may have proved my instincts to be right..
http://www.golfmk6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16151 - last line of the 1st post. May be different for LCR though? My mate did the logging I did the 4th gear booting TBH!

I could get one of phenolic inlet mani gaskets ordered, but I need to put the money elsewhere soon. The fans need fixing 1st and foremost. Then I'll be thinking about where to spend next..

Thanks for the comment! :D The car is flying and fault free, so I am a happy boy!

They've not even tweaked my map at all mate. The problems we're my faulty lambda sensor causing not only one pre-cat fault code, but a knock sensor code too.

My boost leak code was my lower fmic piping kept working loose. And I still need to get it beaded. I can't just keep tightening it up all the time it wants to work it's way loose. I'll be going either Hayward & Scott soon, or replacing my FMIC after my holiday around August time to go for the Big Race FMIC :funk:

In terms of fault codes and this map - for me it's nonsense. I've got the physically weak/broken parts of the car sorted/bought, cleared the fault codes with vagcom and now it's been fault free for around a month.

The map is ALWAYS on, and if anyone's map is not being initiated on startup, it's an IAT value issue. This can be adjusted by the relevant mapper and applies to all of the big mapping companies, and most of the smaller one's too I'd imagine.

I know Coops' had this issue with his and he hasn't been back yet. But I'd be keen to see his again soon and see a full scan of it on vagcom.

I spoke to Shaun the last time I was down AmD about all of this fuss about the map, he said they will look into any problems people believe the map has as it is a new map for 2011. They said if it isn't perfect, they will look to sort it out whether you have fault codes or not. They're only human after all and do go out of there way for us. I've had nothing but good customer service down there and will be going back for big work over the coming months.

None yet Jay, the car got filthy yesterday in all the rain so I'll wait until she's had a polish up this week before I get any :). The cooler looks quite stealthy behind the bumper because it literally takes up the whole front grille, then the pipe work is designed to be hidden but if you look you can definitely tell it's in there ;). I missed the post this morning so my new N75 is waiting for me to collect apparently, fingers crossed it works and fixes things! How's your car now, all fixed? I'm free to meet for some pictures after this weekend.

Hi Aimee, was it raining as bad as it was around here? We got soaked and that was with a gazeebo over the car, so cold too. I think that the only thing that my Dad doesn't do is ECU tuning, the rest I am covered for :). I better repay him big time this Sunday for Father's Day.

Yes it was, typical lovely day today thou! But it's all about the company and the laughs plus not exactly far to go. You coming to GTI inters or edition? You really should show your car you will get alot fo people looking and will make you smile :D plus you know you'd have fun with us lot!
