I still jacked mine up as you can't get to the wheel arch screws very easy if your lowered as the wheel nearly touches the arch!!

I just jacked it up and put a couple of axle stands in there just to be safe.

FMIC Installed

I did it! Well anout 1/4 me and 3/4 my Dad :D throughout the rain and cold today. I didn't take many pics, I was too focussed on the job but here are the few that I did take. I just won a 4bar FPR on eBay also so as soon as that & my new N75 turn up I'll be booking for Stage 2 mapping :).

Weeeell, he's not exactly into this sort of thing but he's a mechanic by trade so he's happy to help. The thing is that he has so much knowledge that I just get lost, he takes over the job and within a minute it's all done. The biggest pain with this was taking the old coolers off and the bumper fixings but sticking the new FMIC on was literally a 10min job.

Good job, did you make a crash bar in the end?(yes i skimmed the thread) My dad is the same, just gets stuck into a job, can't beat the expierence they have, we sometimes spend too long reading up on the internet and making sure we have every last thing measured and worry about pointless stuff, they just get out and get stuck into the job in hand and we become glorified tea makers/photographers, LOL.

Shes looking good and getting there, i run without an N5 now, pity i could have send you mine to test! .

Cheers Rob. Dad's are old skool, they they just seem unbolt things where I'd be sh*ttig myself and then everything works perfectly. I fitted all the new hoses for the FMIC, 2mins later I catch Dad going over them again  but working with him is confidence inspiring, I try to do as much on my own as I can though.

I ended up buying a crash bar, the prices I got for the welding were just a fraction less than I paid for the bar so it made sense to keep the OE one in case I ever got back to standard.

I tried a 'J' valve out on the car and I had boost back although it was different to how it normally is, I guess that's because it was a 'J' and my car is mapped for an 'F'?

Thanks for the words :).

I'm running Stage 1 that was on the car from standard, it's not liking it one bit with all these new parts but not long to go until it's set up right. It pulled 287bhp with current mods (no FMIC) but it's not running how it should as the ECU still thinks it's fitted with OE parts.

Mine has a universal cooler thats probably as wide as yours but stops at the top of the crash bar, so all most as big and im stage 1 but has a bit of lag. What psi you peak at and hold?

Nice one Jay :) Want to whip my bumper off but weary about it not going back on perfect

Cheers lads, I appreciate it, makes the bloodshead worth while :).

Mike, getting the bumper back on is harder than taking it off I'll admit and is ideally a two-man job, one to line up and the other to push in. If the MK2 bumper is fitted anything like mine then there's only one way for it to fit so you don't need to worry about it not fitting, it's on very tight.

Cooler is massive!! Any cheeky pics with the bumper on? Has your valve turned up yet? The drive home from AMD will be awesome!

None yet Jay, the car got filthy yesterday in all the rain so I'll wait until she's had a polish up this week before I get any :). The cooler looks quite stealthy behind the bumper because it literally takes up the whole front grille, then the pipe work is designed to be hidden but if you look you can definitely tell it's in there ;). I missed the post this morning so my new N75 is waiting for me to collect apparently, fingers crossed it works and fixes things! How's your car now, all fixed? I'm free to meet for some pictures after this weekend.

shame your car was not on the stand at Bromley yesterday Jason! Looking nice there your lucky your Dad is into that my Dad doe snot get my car thing at all he tried to help before but I cringe as he is so heavy handed and has no clue or patience!

Hi Aimee, was it raining as bad as it was around here? We got soaked and that was with a gazeebo over the car, so cold too. I think that the only thing that my Dad doesn't do is ECU tuning, the rest I am covered for :). I better repay him big time this Sunday for Father's Day.

Great work mate. That cooler looks awesome :)

It's an amazing bit of kit Tom, literally designed to the finest detail to make sure it fits the LCR so you can really see why the price is so high. Anyway you can check it out on Saturday!

Hi James, really sorry to hear that you now have the same issue, at least we now know that Stage 1 can't handle the 3" TIP. I did't cure my surge, I just adjusted my driving style so avoided WOT...for ages now. I replaced a few things but nothing cured it, the FMIC was the last attempt but now that my N75 is dead I cannot boost to try it out but I suspect the issue will still persist. It really needs to be mapped so this Saturday should hopefully see the car right. Are you around? Pop down if you can.
