OE inlet manifold and throttle body fitted and everything plumbed in, just waiting on the bracket and trim part to fit in front of the manifold and it's all done.

Looks far less impressive than the SEM but that's not important right now.

INA 2.0T FSi coil pack adapters fitted, along with 2.0T FSi coils and new NGK BKR7E plugs gapped to 0.040":

The coil packs are VERY hard to push right down with the INA adapters, had to expend a fair bit of energy to push them right down, but once down it will be very unlikely they'll pop back up!

Driving impressions after these changes soon.

Look quite smart - did you manage to log the car before fitment? Would be good to actually see the data. I always worry that with changes like this that psychologically you feel them but do they make a true difference?

No logs no.

I took the car out for a run and here are some of my initial thoughts.

Q. Has removing the SEM had a dramatic impact on power?
A. No.

Q. Do you feel like the car has lost alot of power?
A. No, very little if any at all.

Q. Have the 2.0T FSi coil packs made a difference?
A. Feels a little smoother, better low end response, that's about it.

Q. So not a big difference then?
A. No, not really.

Will give more feedback after a few hundred miles of use.

its going to be hard for you to tell what difference the 2.0T FSi coil packs have made because you changed the inlet manifold at the same time unfortunately! :( but good luck either way! :)

Rob, did you have a problem with coilpacks popping before?
I've never had an issue and th only way I could see there being a pressure build up below them would be if the spark plugs weren't tight.

Long time ago yes, one coil pack used to pop up all the time, quite a common thing with the old 1.8T push downs. I've been using the Hitachi bolt-downs for years now though, not one has ever failed. All four of my old push-downs failed.

Today I put back in the 0.028" gapped BKR7E plugs and the 1.8T Hitachi bolt-down coil packs and went out for a run. My observations are as follows:

1) Car feels NO worse from running the SEM and 70mm TB against the stock inlet manifold and TB - in fact if anything mid-range torque feels slightly better, a bit punchier, slightly stronger push back in the seat feeling. Top end has not suffered at all.

2) 2.0T FSi coil packs seem to do very little, can't say I notice any difference.

3) Intake temps are exactly the same as before. I was running a phenolic spacer gasket before and now running without one, temps are no different at all.

Still think you should have logged before and after to see if anything is happened. Saying they made no difference is a bit of a strange statement when you only have your ass to tell you whats going on.

For me the coils are not about gaining anything out of the box, theyre about possibly being able to run more timing/better spark/better burn and have a more durable option to the push downs other than bolt downs.

I don't have the time or the inclination to log, I drive my car and enjoy it, plus I know it well enough after 8 years to know if something is working better or not. My 'ass' is very knowledgeable!

As mentioned before I've been running the Hitachi bolt-downs for years and not one has ever failed.

I am done messing around and constantly changing things on my car, it is done, finished, time to just enjoy it now, I have no money to modify it any further so I am calling time on it.

I am sure you said this a fair few times before!
