Cheers - ordering some 0 AWG cable now so I can replace both and be done with it. It's a pain in the arse with it struggling to start all the time
EDIT: Reading back over this thread it sounds as though I'm going to struggle routing 0 AWG cable through the car, underneath the door sill trims where my 4 AWG cable currently runs alongside the meth line.
I'm looking at getting some CM50 (50mm^2) cable from http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/cable/batterycable.php - is it safe to run this underneath the car? It looks as though this is what Bill has done in his car?
Cheers Dale, top work as always. Nearly there now...
Heres how she looked yesterday as we wait for the final few bolts and gaskets to get the engine finished and ready to bolt back into the bay.
Great thread Robbie. Recognise those Comp's. Gti t (Tom) kept swapping the OZ's (they really suited the Lupo) & his other set of 15inch Comp's over, finally deciding to sell the Lupo which has been exported to Southern Ireland. The Brembo's were taken off & will soon be up for sale. He also decided that the OZ's would look good on my car, LOL, got home one day & they were already fitted! My Comp's gathering dust in the garage. He's replaced the Lupo with an LCR so the drive look's like a SEAT showroom, an Arosa Tdi, Mk2 & Mk3 Ibiza Cupra's & just one VW here now (Rallye Golf).

glad to see it back on the road mate cant wait to get mine finished now i bet the noise from the gearbox is awesome we have an old rs200 rally car that comes past my work regular and sounds awesome when he slam's it down the gears even locks the rear wheels up on downshift.
does dale want another car up there for some work haha
What about 2AWG cable Robbie?
Not quite as big as the 0 but its bigger than 4AWG
Awesome stuff though must feel great having it back
Hi Robbie, the Mk2 doing less than a 1000mls a year at the moment, the Mk3 not much more, it's just had a shortshift & VT engine mounts fitted. Still undecided between BT & hybrid, following Bill's Lupo thread with great interest & maybe swayed towards that when final results/prices are released.

So.. fired the car up yesterday on the tweaked fuel settings of 100% and 0% (Secondary & Primary Fuel Tweaks) which I'd driven on for ~5 miles OK and while it idles fine there was a lot of soot etc coming out the exhaust:
I managed to hook the Zeitronix data logger up to my laptop to monitor AFR directly from the controller, which also showed a constant reading of 14.6 - pointing towards something wrong with my wideband sensor or perhaps the wiring going to it, bearing in mind my nearly new pre-cat lambda is also playing up...
When I tried to take the car out for a few miles to get some logs I got about 20 metres down the road before it refused to drive and conced out on me, refusing to start again. After 10 minutes sat still it would reluctantly start, once I held a few revs to keep it going and then continued to idle fine again. Really starting to piss me off now...
This morning I decided to start back at square one and reset the fuelling to how it was when last mapped:
A fresh VAG-COM scan showed no fault codes. I'll try and take it for a drive later, fingers crossed.
Also ordered a new set of spark plugs and a new wideband sensor just to rule these out.
With what's been coming out of the exhaust (tip is black) and how badly it drove when adding in more fuel I'm not convinced it's running at all lean, as it's clear I can't trust my wideband right now until we replace the sensor and have a look at the wiring.
Will try and get a few more logs on the reset fuelling settings later to see if that sheds any more light. Thoughts/ideas welcome at this point
