Nice bunch of goodies you got there.

Where did you get the wipers from? Ive been wanting to get some of those for a while now.

Wipers look great
That's what I was thinking of doin

Cheers, just need to sort the blemishes out in the charge pipe then get it all fitted:D
I picked the wipers up on one of my monthly trips to costco, I originally was going to get the mk4 conversion wipers and arms from VW but for about £10 for the pair I thought I would give them a go, I think they're goodyear blades:think:

Just read this through from start to finish - really good to see the progress that has been made from the beginning. Makes me want to buy so much!!! Anyway, first thing is to try and make another Jamspeed (TM) variant so I was looking at your pic above. Noticed on your cardboard one there are some extra bits, so I've added some bits to the picture to see if I understand it right.

There are 2 extra flaps not on the last post - which are to make mounting brackets I guess, to secure the heatshield from moving. There is only one fold, which I have added, what did you do to join sides A and B together? I was thinking I could add an extra flap then rivet it together maybe...

Have I understood it right - need to find some cardboard :)

Oh one last thing - what on earth is the edging called? Or where do you go to find it - I've been chucking loads of terms into ebay and google and cant find what I want really...

Keep up the good work!

Cheers for reading mate,

To secure sides A and B as suggested I added an extra flap to side A and use automotive silicone to secure, its definately a better idea to rivet it. If you look ay my cardboard template:

You can see the two flaps, if you leave them long on the cardboard template once you trail fit it you can cut them to size (they go exactly how marked by yourself). You will also need to fold it along the line marked 200mm that runs 90 degrees up from the 'Bend Here' line. The 30mm piece cut out of the top edge is to accomodate the S3 strut brace, if your running a different strut brace it will need to be moved as required.

Edging is PVC rubber car interior edge gripping trim

Get some cardboard and get cracking mate:D good luck with it.

Few more changes to the engine bay today.

Standard charge pipe swapped for a Polished non-res charge pipe:

I used ultra fine wire wool and Autosol on the charge pipe but it still needs sanded down to remove some of the blemishes, that will be a job for another day. Sort of defeats the object of buying it from Forge and not polishing my standard pipe [:@]

This is how the bay stood last July:

and how it stands now:

Its still far from finished but progress is finally being made:D. Few more pics:

Nothing major, finish off the engine cover then I'm going to paint the washer bottle cap and the coolant bottle cap so they match up.

After that mods may stop for a while, then hopefully later in the year it'll be wheel refurb and coilover's and maybe poly bushes depending on cash.

Cheers for the comments. It's still quite a way behind yours Sam.

@Tyrer I think the red goes really well with the Silver body colour.

your catching up pretty fast, i only have a few things left to do. powdercoat the rocker cover white, fit the new polished coilpack cover and fit a strut brace. then thats the bay finished (i think but probably not haha) still have my new coilovers to fit aswell as poly bushes and new top mounts. also i have a set of silicone coolant hose and ths engine mounts i need to fit, had them 6 months lol. after this im working on the bodywork and getting it up to show room standard.
anyway keep up the hard work, by the way that heat shield looks spot on, you can make me one if you like, then i can sell my neuspeed one and pay for some more mods haha

It'll get there eventually, yours is definately one of my favourite bays and has definately given me some added inspiration. Looking forward to seeing yours progress.
