No, porting won't stop surge, it might stop boost creep but thats about it.

Hmm. I'm not convinced..
whilst dialing in the boost, and having a wastegate which can flow well (ported like I did to wellys) then overall flow will be higher, but not all of it will be passing past the turbine.

I dont know this for fact, but believe the fact I ported wellys has made not only a difference to its creep (eliminated it) but also increased the overall flow potential, certainly whilst there is some wastegate action going on.

Big question for me is where it the choke occuring? hotside? turbine? smallport cyl head? cam duration affected?

Wellys is on the edge of surge on his 22-24psi spool... but his head is largeport.

yeah 15psi is just over 1bar, its not far off standard, from the sound of it .075 is a very rich mix(11.025 A/F), so its over fueling at the moment.

I wouldn't be too worried about it, but i would check your injectors, i know the O rings on some of those 440cc are just a tiny bit to small, apart form that it probably unburnt fuel.

Got a leaky o ring what ones you used to combat this, don't leak all the time just occasionally which is random,

I'm fitting my tip tommorro see what changes? Will tell you if get surge but I had head work so think will flow ok,

I know bill mentioned something about changing the O rings on these before, luckily i did not need to change mine, it might be worth asking him where he got new O rings from.

How did the TIP install go?

EDIT, just thinking about this, take the O rings from your orginal VW injectors and swap them over, then order new O'rings at your leisure.

havnt fittrd it yet mate having issues with car again, got a leak on gearbox casing which is quiete bad, also got a noisy reease bearing so going to have to take box off again to change this, wil be in garage tue next week to sort out the issues, runing standard map
im pulling 240-250bhp on 15psi of boost and 250 lbs feet torque so cant wait to get the tip on an see how it goes, also should be in for mapping with nick from about the 11th, will keep you updated on how things go with the tip, am i correct in thinking when fitted yours you had to adjust the fueling,

robbie ps the diffs amazing :) pulls you where you want to go

ps sorted out orings leak by reseating them and have ordered oem o rings, how much you pay for the oem ones out of intrest?

LOL, the O rings that came with the green injectors worked for me, also what diff are you running.

When i fitted the TIP, i needed a good lot of tweaks to my map which are still ongoing, i would make sure you have it on the car before you go in for mapping.

Had so many garages have a look and not been given a defo answer on fault some saying it's broken wire and others saying it faulty unit?
