Ross, I personally know the bloke in the above article... I think there's a good chance you'll be reimbursed for the cost of an alloy but you're going to have to dig your camera out and submit quite a lot of evidence.

No luck Ross :( These alloys are pretty expensive, and like hens teeth as you will have seen!

Hope you get it sorted asap.

P.s. You're not getting one of mine :p

Good news, took the alloy into a place that specialises specifically in the reshaping of alloy wheels and they said it will go back into shape no prob. The first place i took it to were more cosmetic rather than strucural repairers so these guys know what they are talking about. Going to cost about £35 which i am still going to claim back (even though it's not much money) because the council must be aware of the pothole as they have had it filled in now.

Today I hit a pothole as i was coming into the company car park in one of the company cars (Seat Leon) and the knock set of the seatbelt pretensioners causing the belts to pull me and the passenger in really tight, engine to cut out, hazard lights to come on and the airbag light to come on the dash. Was not a very nice experience i must say to have to go and tell the boss that i had damaged the car :( It had to be towed away because it is not legal to drive the car as the seatbelts won't reel back in. Hopefully it won't cost too much to put right. Nightmare.

good news about your alloy. sounds like you need to start driving like a drunk swerving all over the place to avoid potholes!

i do and still get caught out cos there's that many.

Glad to hear you got your alloy sorted Ross, pretty quickly too! I agree, I'd still claim the council as you say :)

Whats the plans for the car then? Once the wheel and car have been re-united :p

Got it done asap as driving on the spare is driving me nuts - 50mph WTF! The tyre is a 'w' rated tyre so who knows why you can go over 50, i've been pushing it up to 60 most days and no probs.

Plans, well just now not that much tbh, going to get my side rubbing strips colour coded in the next week or so i think. Going to try and fit my hids either saturday morning or sunday. Got a lot on at uni just now, so need to get my head down with that :(

Yeah, must be a bugger for you driving up and down the '77 everyday at 50mph

Sounds good mate, keeping it subtle like me. Thats a good thing though mate, once your finished uni you will be earning more pennies and able to do whatever mods you want :p

Its alright guys, managed to get it sorted for £30 - result! If anybody has an alloy that is damaged i would recommend carrick engineering in prestwick, really know what they are doing.

Cheers, yeah the 1.4 is pretty gutless for everyday use, really have to rag the engine to get the best out of it, becomes tiring when going long distances. My FR is really quiet on the motorway compared to my old 1.4, must be something to do with the tyres, i find the ride much better on the motorway also but not in town, far far too crashy. Going to be changing to coilovers shortly hopefully, still need to find out from insurance how much it will cost to add them on.

Not really that bothered about cupra spoiler tbh, i think the standard one looks fine. Maybe if some spare cash comes my way....

Going to try and fit my hids tomorrow morning, will post pics if i get that done ok.

nah his astra wasnt, had no problems at all with the astra. was a nice car, a bit common but was a really nice example.
