ok guys update - managed to source some suspension - (big thx to MR VAVAVOOM) and a front splitter - whilst i haven't done the splitter i have managed to do the suspension i think it sits just a little nicer but when i find a job and get 18's on it should look a treat so here are the updated pics (sry haven't had chance to clean it yet) so yeah all proud of myself lol i'm slowly learning and although the front struts were a bitch the advice from BEOWULF to hit it with a big hammer was absolutley right lol but it was real stubborn and took a while but it was a success so here you go.

This thread has convinced me to go for a 2001 Cupra I have been offered. Now I know you can actually get a LCR bumper for it and how it looks.

Keep up the good work! :D

Well thought it was about time i updated this - I still haven't found a job (didn't help that the water pump decided to give up on me and no job mean't the car was off the road for nearly 3 months) well last week at the bargain price of £270 i had the cambelt, tensioner, and water pump changed and now all is well with my motor. That is except for the pipe i broke whilst replacing the thermostat. A quick post on here and it was revealed that the pipe i broke is actually a vacum pipe going to the N249. hence no dump valve action + turbo flutter and a generally unhappy motor.

Sooo this morning i got out of bed and straight on ebay to order the bits for the N249 bypass they should be here tomorrow so if all goes well i will post the results of how it all went. After ordering the parts i decided to also purchase some paint for the engine (which is in desperate need of a clean) white, metalic blue and black heat resistant paint white is for the engine rocker cover - blue is to have CUPRA put onto the slope on the right side of the engine and black is for my itake manifold - not sure when i'm going to do this but it is on the list and will post after it is finished.

After doing this i decided to smooth and drill the standard airbox drilled about 30 holes and it sounds a little meatier so going to drill loads more tomorrow i have drilled all underneath at the moment is it ok to drill the side (near the wing) and the rear of the airbox?

and thought i would post a pic of what it currently looks like.

One other thing guys i am thinking of running the cold air feed to the front of the car and actually having an inlet in the grill is there any pros or cons to doing this and what do you think of having it here as i don't want to lose a fog light.

Ok - The good news - MY VAC HOSE FOR THE BYPASS CAME

The bad news - rammed a screwdriver through my thumb in the process of performing the mod lol

Ok so here it is N249 bypass let me say first of all i was dubious to say the least about doing this as i had heard mixed reports - I am soooooo Glad i did throttle response feels completely different it pulls more in every gear the air release from the dump valve is sooooooo much louder and crisper. It feels more responsive needless to say one happy bunny - (not including stabage)

To do this i ordered 2m of 3mm silicone hose 1x 3mm T-junction at a total cost of £6.55 oh and i used a few cable ties

so here are the pics - haven't pulled out the bracket over the 4th coil pack yet but will do this weekend

Nice car mate, coming along really nicely, exhaust needs straighting up abit :) apart from that it's really nice

Thx bud - Its just annoying as i am not a mechanic nor have worked on any car in my life so its a massive learning curve to do anything to the motor. For the most part it does leave me feeling all proud of myself evertime i do something - next things on the list is FMIC,

(just missed a universal one with piping for my car on ebay for £46 and less than 5 miles away = gutted) rocker cover painted along with inlet manifold

I am trying to avoid getting someone to do stuff as the labour charges are obscene. and yeah i noticed the exhaust :D will possibly do the exhaust this week/weekend should only be a 2 minute job to adjust the join and spin the exhaust round a little bit :D -

Hi sh4rk I see you've had your side mouldings sprayed.

Did you have to buy some new ones and get them painted or did you sand them down and get them done on the car?

Thx bud - i'm trying lol :D

Hopefully will find some form of employment soon (really don't care what it is anymore just need work) then it will get everything it needs done

managed to find myself a 4 bar fpr for £25 :D obvioulsy can't put it on but it was cheap so bought it :D

looking to get mods for as cheap as possible as if anything it keeps me occupied whilst job hunting. So on the lookout for another cheap FMIC (can't believe i missed the one on ebay for £46.00)

found a guy to straighten up that front wing up and at weekend i will see if i can find use of a reasonable size jack to get the car up so i can get the exhaust straightened, then at some point need a downpipe.

On a plus side my bro just paid for a second hand inlet manifold and rocker cover for me so its clean and paint them + rocker gasket etc and bolt in coil packs all money tho so going to be a slow process for me atm but i will get there eventually.

Keep it up pal, youre doing a good job and will keep learning the more you do.
Looks like you have to do your work outside as well which can be a pain in this country.
The backgrounds in some of your pics look familiar - Tanterton ?
