hm.....so if you are venting to intake than blowby fluids will be stuck in the catch can...but if u dont vent into the intake then u dont need catch can...all fluids can just drip out of the hose under the car
Plumbing back into the TIP largely defeats the object of having a catch tank in the first place. You don't want these fluids going into your intake; they're only routed back into the engine as standard for environmental purposes.
Depending on the catch tank you use (i.e. baffled or not) if you re-plumb back into the TIP you still risk recirculating this blow-by waste back into the engine - much better to vent to atmosphere THROUGH a catch tank.
If you vent straight to the atmosphere without a tank you'll be spilling oily sludge over the road/car. When using a catch tank you should only be venting fumes, not liquid. The tank is designed to catch and trap these fluids, with only fumes escaping.

Well isnt the purpose of a catch tank to stop those fluids going back into the TIP?

Thats exactly what i said...i dont mind if occasionaly a drop or two of water or oil drops from vent hose to under my car...so in terms of removing oil from intake, turbo, IC, piping buying catch tank is a waste of money (if venting to atmo)...but if u are concerned about leaving oily droplets under your car then u put catch tank.
Thats what im saying all the time...
And, for me, the point of making this mod is to clean my pipes of oil...not to collect them in the catch tank...
Ive read all the posts here with understanding and my conclusion is that u can clean ur pipes without the catch tank only by removing PCV, black valve in the TIP and rerouting hoses to atmosphere..
Of course it is nice to have a catch can but it is not essential at all..
However it seems that some people here dont understand that and think that catch can is essential. (i dont mean you Robbie C)
I think you have a very good point its just not environmentally friendly if thats your bag.

Its was that time of year again.....
