With the cost of ceramic coating you would be lucky to have any change out of £1k :headhurt:

I remember seeing that TSR mani a few months back..

Will be interesting to see the results from it..

Its not been available that long, I ordered it end of November and it was made to order. TSR said they are waiting for more test data for the full product launch. Hope it wasnt a mistake getting one early !
Im looking forward to seeing what improvements it makes, but the car has never been about big bhp numbers, althourh with the costs involved it could have quite easily been a BT setup instead.

300+bhp and reduced weight has been enough to show up much more expensive and exoctic vehicles, which is always good fun !

good luck with it..
it should fly...
watch out for surge.

Thanks Bill. I am running the CR Turbo hybrid now, not the JBS05, so have been following your thread on the surge issue closely. Pretty confusing with all the various turbo specifications about and variables involved.

You have done some good work and research with these recently, so it will definetly be coming your way for some Badger5 treatment and setup :)

Wow, only just noticed this thread after all this time and I never even realised Swindon Race Engines looked after these SEAT Sport engines - right on my front door step. Every day's a school day...

Very nice car indeed with an impressive spec list, liking that a lot

Swindon Racing Engines used to build and maintain the engines for the UK Cupra Championship when it was running.
I managed to pick the engine up when Triple R sold off cars and spares at the end of the 2007 season when it changed to the Mk2 Leon.
The engine actually has a bit of history to it, as it was for Harry Vaulkhards car which won the 2007 Cupra Championship.
They used two engines for the season to ensure no problems and the win, so I managed to get a low miles blueprinted and dyno'd unit with Seat Sport / Swindon paperwork for over £5k for a good price.

Wow, as Robbie said earlier never noticed this thread, nice to see another R on here :) How do you find the K04 set up? And have we had anymore news on what's in the engine? Quite interesting...

Well bit of an update. Engine is back out again in order to fit the manifold, as after many hours trying to fit decided it was impossible to do properly without removing head or engine.

The manifold has been Zircotec ceramic coated.

The turbo has been sent back to CR Turbos after more issues for complete rebuild and update to latest hybrid spec. The exhaust turbine has been modified and wastegate ported.

It should be all back together shortly !

from what i read it says the paperwork adds up to 5k, but he didnt pay that? anyway, regardless... he's got deep pockets!

correct that was the brand new from Swindon price, I blagged a deal with various other bits and pieces (pipes, loom + ecu, sensors, and consumables) for a lot less than that ! It was case of right place at the right time, doesnt happen to me that often.

I am intriuged to what the map sensor reads with its on manifold position. have you looked at this?

I have not tried this out, any ideas if it would make much difference with it after the throttle rather than before ? The cup cars used to run some form of anti-lag so may have been something to do with this.

I missed the MAP sensor on the mani until you pointed it out, Bill :)

What is the yellow plug on the mani next to the MAP sensor?

This is just the normal sensor - the connector is one i took off the Seat Sport engine loom as it had broken.

thanks for that Bill, interesting stuff. I had missed that build, some nice fab work on the mani there ! is there no end to the Badgers ability !! :)

respect for all the work / research you have been putting into these hybrids. I have had numerous issues, and been close to binning it so many times.

3 turbos later (1x JBS / 2x CRT), I think I have had my fair share of bad luck. All turbo related faults have been replaced under warrenty, but does not cover the pain/cost of keep removing and refitting
