Dual climate control - great idea . The mrs has blood thinner than water so has her sides always on 25 deg , i 'm a bloke so mines on 16 deg . She now never moans about being cold and i'm never sitting in a puddle of sweat !! lol;)

Just a note on the launch control...my 1.6tdi has this for some reason. I've found it very useless in anything but bone dry conditions, as in the wet as soon as you release the clutch the traction control kills the power and you get massively bogged down.

It also works in any gear (and neutral) while you are stationary. If you turn the traction control off, it disables it so you can drive normally (and so MOT testers can do emissions/smoke test).

Launch Control

This is more than likely just to stop you over-revving the engine whilst stationary, but can still be used as launch control ;)

again model dependant - works with the FR TDI

*When stationary, engage first gear, keep clutch depressed then floor the accelerator. The revs stick at 3000rpm until you engage the clutch then all the power is unleashed :D
(not very nice in the wet though )

Don't work on the K1. Just revs freely to the top lol

I think that's just a diesel thing, our vans at work do it as well, I presume it's to do with the turbo kicking in later up the rev range

Yep, it's not "proper" launch control, I believe it to be just to limit the revs.

Only while you're stationary with the clutch down? Nevertheless it's useless, the traction control is far too aggressive and you can get a way better launch by 'doing-it-yourself'.

I recently found out that my windows don't stop from closing if something gets in the way, I also have a slightly bruised finger too lol :)

^^ It can be more of an annoyance than a feature! :) If you get sticky seals it takes 3 attempts to get the window up and then it goes into manual mode!!

I still want needle sweep :(

What does the fl have that the pre fl hasn't in order to activate this?

i was on the understanding they shared most internals/electronics. Was mainly just a different map on the engine and a few external differences

different clocks module presumably.... If you're good with 10000101010101010101011101010 then maybe you could program module yourself but i suspect this is rather impossible....

I have found out that my fl 59 fr:-
Hazard lights come on when the abs has kicked in! Found this out while checking brakes were ok! Even had to double check I didn't push the button accidentally!!

The revs are limited to 4000rpm with tcs active and redline with tcs inactive! Not had a dry day to test the launch! :-/

Dash light sensor is in bottom r/h corner of speedo below the FR logo. This is just the illumination of the dash\console. (I think!)

All windows and mirrors go up while holding the lock button on the key and down while holding the unlock button! (but you have to have windows auto close themselves after having them open to keep this function working on the mirrors- that confused me for weeks!!)

Have tried the others on this thread! Some sweet tips!

Had a good read of this last night, some very useful tips. it did freak me out a little when my windows went down after unlocking the car...

Hazard lights come on when the abs has kicked in!
Not strictly true. The hazards are only activated automatically if EBA (emergency brake assist) has kicked in, i.e. if you move your foot quickly from accelerator to brake and apply enough force for the car to think you're trying to perform an emergency stop. It'll apply full brake force until ABS kicks in to prevent the wheels locking up. Only experienced this once for real in my FR and it frightened me half to death, although it did probably prevent an accident...

If you trigger ABS without EBA, such as at a greasy/icy junction, the hazards won't come on.

Found out by accident today that if you're in the Audio menu on the MFD you can change tracks on the CD using the up/down buttons on the right-hand side of the steering wheel.

This applies to the F/L model with the audio controls on the left-hand side of the steering wheel.

Now you can change tracks easily whether you're left or right handed. :)
