Nice car, like the interior looks better than the one in the FR! Is it comfortable?

Thanks, i find it comfortable although you would not as the seats in my car are the same shape as yours with nicer covers :p only kidding i like the FR ones too, at least they have side airbags!

Yeah want a diesel, not so much for lots of power, just enough for easy overtaking and in gear punch. Looked at an FR, but when i drove it i realised straight away that i could not live with how noisey it was. Think the combination of diesel 'rasp', wind and road noise would drive me crazy, seemed 100 times worse than my car!

Honestly? I dont think mine is that loud.. can hear the turbo whistle above the engine noise from inside the cabin. Its worse when its cold though, then gets a bit quieter when warmed up :)

Yeah, my car must not be as bad as i think it is, was like going into a big merc or something when i got back into my own ha ha. Also, when going down the motorway i was practicaly shouting at the salesman lol! I can appreciate why people love them though, it is good to drive, but it's just not for me.

Haha.. have you not added sound deadening in the doors though? Surely that helps a little with the noise. And you need to remember that the diesel will be noisier from the start over your 1.4 Petrol... I dont think its that bad though, maybe thats just me :p

nah, put some glass fibre insulation in the rear quarters which helps slightly but not really noticable to the untrained ear ha ha. Yeah i realise the diesel will be louder than petrol, i used to have a 1.7cdti astra and that was really clattery!

You're going to do well to find a diesel that isn't somewhat noisy!

tbh, the noise of the diesel does'nt really bother me that much, i drive diesels all day long at work for 2-3 month periods at a time and i enjoy driving diesels tbh. I want a bit more comfort now lol

i think you might have got a baddun, i'm with mick on this one, they really arent that noisy, tyres on them make a HUGE difference, and i came from a 1.4 sport 100 as well

Not just me then  Cheers Phil!

Yeah tyres do make a big difference too, maybe you did just get a bad one Ross?

no worries

for me changing tyres, wing mirror covers and door seals and now i personally find it quieter on the motorway/a roads than the 1.4, but ultimately there not to everybodys tastes its true.

I take it you just find the Ibiza TDIs particularly noisy then (compared to other diesels)?

i only find it noisy when the boost comes on but i suppose you would get used to that noise after a while.

There are quite a few cheap(ish) Ibiza TDi's in the same for sale section, including one or two Cupra as far as I remember.. do any of them take your fancy?

.G.

Cupra for insurance is a no no! i've only just turned 19 lol. FR looks the biz imo and insurance is not any more than my current car. Might take a look as i am being convinced by you lot!

possibly, i noticed that it had budget tyres on the rear and good quality ones on the front, can't remember the make of them though  But again, all you have ever had is ibizas, so you dont know any better :p

true, and as true as it may be about me only ever owning mk4's it does mean i can compare :p

also i am one of the privledged ones to say my family have owned many a car from fiat uno's citreon 2cv's etc to merc s classes bm 5 series etc and i can safely say the FR isnt as bad as you may think if you compare it to your mercs or volvo s60's, but the age old thing of, you get what you pay for comes into play ;)

EDIT: and ive test driven too bloody many cause im bored, arbaths, twingo's, clios, astra cdti, and again the FR aint bad at all compared to cars in the same class

hmm, the other thing is the rattles that the ibiza is prone to get, the one i test drove had quite a few that could be heard even on the motorway. Do you find yours bad?
