Got around to fitting the S3 brace today.

It took a few hours as I didnt want to rush it.
I first enlisted the some help to hold the bonnet whilst the gas strut was removed. I trial fitted the brace and marked off were I would need to drill. I used a 2mm drill bit to make the pilot holes then a 10mm drill bit for the holes. The holes were then coated with anti rust primer. Whilst this was drying I took about a 5mm deep groove out of the right side of the brace to allow room for the gas strut.
When it came to fitting I jacked up the front of the car for easier access to the underside of the turrets. I used 6x m10x25mm bolts to secure the brace, lowered the car then went for a test drive.
I found the most difficult part was re-attaching the jack point covers [:@]

I wasnt expecting much improvement from the brace although after the drive i have to admit the car turns in alot better now! :D the only problem I have is the body roll but I'll hopefully be ordering my front and rear arbs at the end of the month:thumbup:

I also fitted one other performance enhancing mod this weekend;)

That's the R32 23mm front ARB right? Looks like my set up :) Going to fit mine soon, been advised to put the rear on the stiffest setting or there will be some understeer and I'd rather have some oversteer action!!

Nice one mate, I haven't got my ARB fitted yet (R32 front one in the loft, going for a 24mm Whiteline rear one). Are you going to fit the front one yourself?

I was going to! not sure now though, general consensus is that its a bitch to change and with the current weather and the fact I'm a bit impatient to get them on I may have to take a trip to the garage!

You need to drop the front subframe, and I gather the track rod ends have to come off so you'll need wheel alignment done afterwards I'd think. If you do get a garage to do it then I'd be interested to find out how much they charge you so I know how much to budget for getting mine done.

Christmas update!

Its late but Happy Christmas everyone, hope you all had a good day!

Due to the adverse weather I decided to get the ARB's fitted by a mechanic. Should be done before new year :D

I got some more goodies for the motor yesterday:

and inside the boxes:

P1020096.jpg

Liquid Cube
Kestrel DAS6 polisher
3 Meguiars polishing pads
2 Meguiars polishes (#80 Speed Glaze, #83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish)

I got the Liquid Cube as I wasnt keen on losing an air vent. It will eventually be getting permanently mounted somewhere in the car. Ideas to follow!

I have only every heard good things about the polisher and for the price couldnt really complain!

Looking forward to some decent weather in the future so I can have a play with both my new toys!

Cheers Santa!! ;)
