Right lads, just a heads up for anyone getting new tyres.
As the weather is a lot wetter at this time of year my tyres only had about 3/4mm thread left on the fronts I decided to get a new set.
So anyway I popped down the local tyres centre to see what they had, to my delight I seen a set of Goodyear Eagle F1's GSD3 on the rack, size 225/40/18, nice one I thought. I had a set of these about 2 years back and they were a great wet tyre, I had fond memories from them so I was stoked.
Anyway got them fitted, €135 each fitted, so not the cheapest tyre on the rack.
Anyway I have had these tyres on the car for about 2weeks now and I was super confused, the grip can only be described as horrific and dangerous in both the wet and dry, not good, like skate board wheels. I decided to look closer at the tyres and the print on them, everything was in order, the E mark followed by all the other stuff, then to my horror, "Made in China" WTF, the last set were, "Made in Germany".
I called Goodyear and they confirmed the Tyres were made in China and legit and there was nothing they could for me
It seems Goodyear have moved production of these tyres down to China and quality has obviously suffered, even to the touch the compound seems hard and not sticky to the touch even when warmed up.
So now I have to go and buy another F’ing set of tyres, I have driven budget tyres with better grip.
SO guys and gals look out and don't get caught like me.
