Bang In The Middle.
Im hurt on this one.
Brought new 2 button key fob offf ebay....swapped all around minus transponder but still locked/unlocked.
2)Started car & imobiliser light flashed and died.....replaced old transponder into new fob (using old key part only) still dead imobiliser.

Whats going on...ive not programed anything but im thinking of using my spare key for the time being.

Hopefully someone can help me here. My key lost its programme because when I put new batteries in they wouldn't work because the contacts had bent so they were out for too long. Now I press the button on the key and the light flashes but it's no longer coded to my car.

I've used both the guide on post #1 on this thread as well as this one (http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showpost.php?p=1502225&postcount=2) but neither have worked. Can anyone offer any other suggestions as to how I can get the key to work again with my car?

Just done what was said, got a flip key off ebay second hand, ended up being a three button one as it was going cheap. Purchased a spare blade and got the blade cut locally so swapped the blades over. Programed the remote section as per the guide which is the same as what the manual for the car says. Swapped the transponder from my spare key and hey-presto a working flip key :funk: all in all cost under £30 to do. My mate has a bora didn't beleive that it would work, he's very competative and gutted he didn't do it first.

I take it with the mk1 leon cupra i wouldn't be able to use a 3 button fob or is it possible?

I dont have a spare and my car tends to lock its self randomly and one day its going to catch me out lol

you have the transponder and the actually chip, the chip is a different shape in your non flip key so you need that hence why people buy used ones, but if you want that new key look you could get teh used key and then put the internals into the new casing even though your guna have a new looking key and you car isnt new so to speak that and the key fob with be Chinese copy rather that genuine VAG

right sorry to ask a question that i am sure has been covered but i have read this post by post but just seem to be confusing myself so here goes

i bought a se 11o tdi last week but it only came with one key so i need i if not 2 spares so if i go and buy a new key ( flip etc off of ebay with the board and transponder ) do i just need to take it to seat and get them to code the transponder to the car? as i hate only having 1 key at the minute

You'll need a fresh transponder which the dealer or auto locksmith will supply & they'll code it to your car.get this done by an auto lock smith (much cheaper)Then just follow the instructions on how to program the auto locking.

Cheers for that been looking on ebay and there seems to be a few of the 2 and 3 button remotes for sale so should be able to get 1 or 2 of them and then the transponders look to be £3 each from hinkleys so all should be good

Right well quick update, because i have had my clifford alarm swopped over from my old broken car i didnt need a full key for a spare just a blade that had been cut so nipped down to timpsons found the same blade and bought it and got it cut for £20

quick question though both new keys that i bought now have a blank transponder in them does anyone know if they can be programmed with vag com etc just incase the original transponder goes

on a side note have also fitted some led side bulbs ( as one was very dull ) and then as the head lights looked abit dim fitted some nice HID's as well :D

You can't get the code using VAG-COM. Vag-Tacho is the only software that will extract the SKU from the immobiliser.

For clarity:

To code a new flip key to be able to START YOUR CAR, you require ONE of the following:

1. Your car's SKU code (not supplied with the car after about 2002)
2. A VAG-Tacho cable and software to extract the code from your immobiliser.
3. A normal key that works in your car that you don't mind rendering useless by stealing the transponder chip from it to fit in your new key.

If you do not have any of the above, the ONLY way to code a new key to your car is a trip to the dealers. They connect to VAG in germany via their diagnostic computer and do not get to see the SKU code themselves.

right thanks for that looks like a trip to seat then to get the chip sorted

I've just bought my flip remote from eBay so will report back how I get on.

But, My house insurance has agreed to pay for a new key as it was damaged at home so may just go via the dealer for a whole working flip key!

Just found an auto locksmith that will supply a genuine flip key/fob coded and cut for £135 all in, based in Salisbury if anyone is local to there :)
