Good news but I still recon you will get a problem with the sfs connector popping out of the turbo next. Is there no way they could get rid of the sfs connector and joined the pipe to the turbo some how?

Well that would be mental if that happens. What makes you think that will happen? As long a there is some give in the setup i.e the pipework has some give somewhere then it should work.

I just dont trust them crappy OEM clips that hold the connector in. My sfs connector always use to pop out due to the crappy clip. Replaced the clip with a new one from seat and same thing kept happening every so often. Is there simply no way you can get a bit of silicone which will clamp over the turbo outlet and round the pipe?? There must be a way, when I was looking at doing on mine, there was enough room to do this. But I never got round to doing it before I got rid of the car unfortunately.

looking at mine i found if the o rings are worn and the connector is not a tight fit then they give trouble but other than that the turbo outlet has not give me any problems only the intercooler connections which i have fitted bigger o rings and bolted sfs connectors into intercooler as well as the oe clips and so far so good

Looking at mine, I'd say there is little to no chance that the sfs connector in the turbo outlet would ever pop out! It was a complete swine to get in there with a plastic hammer and water pump pliers!

My setup relies on the sfs connectors at either end of the IC and turbo outlet and 750 miles after doing my pipework upgrades I have only had slight leaks due to jubilees not being tight enough.

I had a good chat with Kenny@AmD on the weekend. He said one of the problems is that there isnt enough give in the pipework so when engine is moving it is causing the problem. I have asked Hayward and Scott when making the new pipework down there to add a bit of give with the silicone.

Well Forge replied and it seems they want to start thinking about it after Autosport next year. To be honest even after Autosport I can imagine them saying "we have another project we need to do first". Guess they dont want to develop Seat Diesels. Very disappointed with them tbh, looks like I will have to do it on my own...again.

If you need a hand mate, let me know. What about following MDS's steps and using a universal core and join it to the existing pipework? Forge only seem to want to know when it suits them

They havent said they are not going to do it but when you get told we will do it after an event and they havent contacted you to sort out a date after that. Sort of knocked the wind out of my sails again, just real disapointed as Forge are a great company.

disappointing really as I have had my eye on you progress with forge on this, when I have cleared my debts it does make me wonder if its worth trying to sort my diesel out or look at swapping for a mk2 cupra/k1 instead

Hopefully Id get a full respray done on my car within the next couple of weeks!
Been thinking of keeping engine bay and the insides of the doors etc black, and go for a platinum grey outside. I think that could work, no?

Just had a quick glance at your last detailing! Damn nice both car and color! :D

I havent washed the car since! :( Its been at H&S for 2 weeks too so god knows what its going to come back like. Just want her back now and working...she needs some loving for the winter.

If your looking at fitting a universal cooler, I reckon it's worth going whole hog on it. Get a decent single pass cooler, relocate the battery, and fit a PD130 Passat manifold. It will give you a really short, very simple pipe run. Currently on with this on my car.
Difference between the passat manifold and ours, is that it enters from the nearside.
I'd also say, dont bother with a cheap universal core off Ebay. They dont flow well at all. Get a decent one from the likes of Forge. Dont go too big with the pipework size either. I'd say 57mm max.

Thanks for your input Tom. I wont be doing things in halves that for sure so it will be a forge intercooler. As for the piping the intercooler will have to work with my existing piping. Although its not the most direct route possible when I add watermeth in future it will give chance for the meth to mix in well before going into the intake.

H&S 3" DP and Turbo Outlet Redesign Update #1

Just spoken to H&S and the good news is that its all done.

They had a nightmare getting the alloy bend (had to be same type of metal as the SFS connector for welding purposes) but eventually got there and it has been done to my specification. There is a 90 degree bend welded on the sfs connector so the silicone is now on as straight piece of pipe with swaged edges. This means that there isn’t the same pressure which was causing the silicone to slip off. H&S road tested the car and nothing popped off but time will tell....

Exhaust has also been done! It is now 3” all the way through to the turbo with 2 silencers (one at the rear and one in the centre after the downpipe). H&S stated that it isn’t loud at all and sounds quite nice (I suppose they would say that though so more will be said when I get the car). I asked if the car felt laggy as the bore is much bigger. Oddly they said it didn’t feel as quick as last time BUT it was wet so couldn’t go mad as it would wheel spin. Ian said that it’s not his car so wouldn’t really know if it was quicker or not and the first time was the shock of getting in a deisel and it being quick.

So all in all, looking forward to picking her up on Saturday morning.
